February 21, 2024 by brennon
Warlord Games is now taking pre-orders for their new tank battle miniatures game, Achtung Panzer! There is a new starter set for the 28mm World War II wargame alongside additional sets allowing you to expand your tank force to match the major nations in conflict during the period.
Achtung Panzer! Blood & Steel - Starter Set // Warlord Games
Achtung Panzer! puts you in command of a tank platoon that is going to be blasting through enemy armour on battlefields in World War II. The Starter Set (above) features everything that you need to begin playing including a pair of German Panthers and a trio of three British Shermans. One of these is the Firefly variant which gives you some added punch. All of the miniatures are plastic and the set also comes with stowage packs and more for you to make unique and characterful tank platoons in 28mm.
The Achtung Panzer! rulebook contains all of the rules for recruiting and running your crew, leading your platoon and diving into the use of assault guns and armoured cars alongside your tanks. There is also a campaign system where you can track the evolution and experience of your tank crew between battles. There are also statistics cards covering all of the famous fighting vehicles of World War II from the British, German, US and Soviet armies. Additional nations and various theatres of war will be coming in future expansions.
If you want to find out more about gameplay, you can check out the ongoing blog on the Warlord Community website.
Tank Force Sets
As well as the Starter Set, there are also a bunch of different ways for you to get your hands on more miniatures for Achtung Panzer! Due to popular demand, the British and German forces from the Starter Set also get their own Tank Force sets so you can buy them individually or use them to boost an existing platoon.
Achtung Panzer! British Army Tank Force // Warlord Games
Achtung Panzer! German Army Tank Force // Warlord Games
These sets come with a mix of awesome tanks for you to choose from in addition to a few bonus elements. The British set comes with three Churchill Infantry Tanks, one Wolverine Tank Destroyer and one Humber Armoured Car. The German set comes with three Pz IV Ausf F1/G/H Medium Tanks, one Tiger I Ausf. E Heavy Tank and one Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Tank Destroyer.
If you'd prefer to explore a different nation in World War II and Achtung Panzer! then there are also Tank Force sets for the United States and the Soviets.
Achtung Panzer! US Army Tank Force // Warlord Games
The US force comes with three Sherman "Easy Eight" Medium Tanks, one M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer and one M5 Stuart Light Tank. You also obviously get the tank crews for your vehicles which will be handy when things go wrong!
Achtung Panzer! Soviet Army Tank Force // Warlord Games
The Soviets get a bunch of fun stuff with three T-34/76 Medium Tanks, one Iosef Stalin 2 Heavy Tank and one KV-1 Heavy Tank/KV-2 Assault Tank. All of the Tank Force sets that we've been showing off here come with all of the additional cards for the various tanks and more. There are some good ways to get started in Achtung Panzer! with these different sets.
So, if you're looking to get your hands on a different tank-based tabletop game then maybe consider Achtung Panzer! in 28mm. If you've already got your hands on a bunch of Bolt Action tanks then you're sorted for a lot of options when it comes to expanding your platoon.

Will you be scooping up Achtung Panzer!?
– No. I scoop up my dog’s poop, though. ?
Got my interest, wont be scooping it up until the rules/cards only bundle comes out as I don’t need more tanks. Its a pretty good deal for just the tanks, so you effectively get the rules, accessories and terrain for free which if your after some tanks seems a no brainer. Rules wise still want to see some gameplay but from the previews its a promising looking game. The obvious comparison to those who know of it is What a Tanker from the lardies, itself a good game but not everyone’s cup of tea, this looks to do things differently… Read more »
