Have You Picked Up Rubicon’s Vietnam War Miniatures Yet?
May 27, 2022 by brennon
Rubicon Models have been tinkering with a range of Vietnam War miniatures for a while and now they are available for you to snap up. If you're looking to snap up some USMC Marines and Viet Cong Fighters then you have some great miniatures to choose from.
USMC Marines & Commander - Rubicon Models
Provided in 1/56 Scale (or near enough to 28mm), there are some solid options that have been in the works for a while. The USMC Marines set above certainly sets the bar high with thirty miniatures in the set for you to use with your armies.

The set allows you to make your standard USMC Marines alongside their Command element for use on the tabletop. You also get LOADS of weapon options from their standard rifle through to the likes of the M72 LAW. You just need a helicopter or two to drop them into a jungle hell on the other side of the world.
Arrayed against them is a host of Viet Cong Fighters. There are thirty-two miniatures in this particular set.

This set comes with sprues that allow you to make Viet Cong soldiers that are both male and female, echoing the idea that pretty much everyone could be your enemy! The thirty-two miniatures can be armed with a good array of weapons including an RPG-7.

These miniatures have been out for a little while but we thought it was worth showing them off because they look so good! Rubicon Models took their time with this range and it has paid off as I think they are some of the best Vietnam War miniatures on the market at the moment.
Vietnam War - Future Releases
In addition to the plastic kits that are now available, there are also some great miniatures in the pipeline. Loads of vehicles have been seen already but you can also look forward to the US Army Command Group popping up.

Supporting your troops is also important and that's where these Special Weapon Teams come in.

There are going to be options for Mortars, Machine Guns and Snipers. I do like the idea of making a neat hiding place for the sniper team as if they are poking their heads through the undergrowth and hoping they don't get spotted.
The Viet Cong are not to be outdone though. They also get Special Weapon Teams with options for a heavy machine gun manned by an all-female crew.

This is just scratching the surface of what Rubicon Models are looking to create for their Vietnam War range. It is well worth taking a look at their Facebook Page as they tend to offer up loads of previews and sneak peeks as to what's next.
Have you snagged some of these new plastic miniatures?

I haven’t picked these up yet and I’m sitting here wondering why I haven’t. They certainly look worth picking up
Sorely tempted by these. No real use for them, but honestly that’s not stopped me before…
There was a fun looking Vietnam port of bolt action in an old WSS (#65 in case anyone wants a look) and I’ve always fancied a go.
Rubicon’s own rules look fascinating but complicated. I think a Bolt Action-alike is more suited to my aging noggin.
Thanks for pointing me to those rules @somegeezer
Found’em and have been studying them. I think I’ll be using those this summer!
??
It looks really well thought out with a great feel for jungle combat. Have fun!
I would love a Vietnam set of rules for solo play, take your men though a tour of duty etc… I keep my eyes open over the year
Ooh they are looking brilliant an for 33.£ brilliant value for money.
With just an M203 option vs the M79, you could use these for what-ifs up through 1979-80 timeframe as well. I know we still used the much of the same equipment in the units I was stationed with while a Marine grunt 76-80. Especially the helmet / flak jacket.
