September 4, 2023 by brennon
Battlefront Miniatures are releasing some new miniatures for those wanting to dive into the 15mm Cold War Gone Hot gameplay of World War III: Team Yankee. The Swedish get plenty of new toys to play with on both the land and up in the skies.

We start things off with an infantry cannon that worked as a high-mobility assault gun, the IKV 91 Anti-Tank Platoon. It would find itself assigned alongside the Swedish Infantry Brigade and the 10th Mechanised Brigade and a decent option for both supporting your own troops whilst blowing chunks out of enemy formations.
Next up, we move to the Pvrbv 551 Or Lvrbv 701 Platoon.

These ere tank hunters and featured improved anti-tank guided missile systems which seems very handy when going up against Soviet armour. The vehicle would have had a crew of four with a commander and driver at the front and the gunner and loader in the middle under the hatches. I guess that this means you could get out quickly should the worst happen.
If you're eager to blow things up in style then you've also got the Bandkanon 1 Howitzer Battery.

This particular vehicle boasted a high rate of fire on its weapon, being able to fire fourteen shells in less than forty-five seconds. That is impressive! The entire gun could also be reloaded thanks to a built-in hoist in around two minutes. This means that if you can slot this somewhere neat at the back of your army, it could provide you with a withering amount of howitzer fire throughout the course of a game. It also looks super cool as a vehicle!
Watch The Skies
If you're looking to stake a claim over the skies then you also have some new jets that you'll be able to add into the mix for the Swedish.
AJ 37 Viggen Attack Group // World War III: Team Yankee
The AJ 37 Viggen was used as a fighter that could be engaged in ground attack and reconnaissance missions. The Viggen started out its life in 1971 and was one of the most advanced fighter jets produced in Europe until the Tornado came around.
Direct Only Accessories
As well as the vehicles and aircraft here, we also have two sets that are going to be handy when tinkering with your existing kits. For example, you can get just the S-Tank Tracks if you like.

This design was developed so that it matched with the unique position of the gun. This made for a very adaptive tank hunter, sneaking through the woods and making good use of terrain whilst also being able to snipe enemy vehicles.
You can also lay down some covering fire from above with the HKP 9 Missile Launchers.

These turned these helicopters into anti-tank options for your Swedish forces. Each helicopter could be armed with four missiles and a sight and guidance system that could make firing them at their intended target easier.
All of these kits are available for you to check out either at Store.OnTableTop or over on the Battlefront website. They are going to be on sale this weekend!
Will you be checking out these options for your 15mm wargames?

It would have been easy for BF to include the alternative tracks on the plastic sprue with indents for magnets. Not sure why they made them direct order only.
Fab looking vehicles.
