New World War I Russians Coming To OZ Club STP Range
September 21, 2021 by brennon
The World War I Russian range from Empress Miniatures and the OZ Club STP collection is growing thanks to Paul Hicks. A new selection of Imperial Russian Infantry figures are heading to war with a whole host of infantry at the ready.
World War I Russian Imperial Infantry // Empress Miniatures
Once again, this is a wonderful selection of sculpts which show off the kind of soldiers that would have been fighting during the period. Of course, you can use these for a clash during World War I but they could also be used for the infighting that plagued the country soon after.
They will be available in Russia and beyond its borders through the folks at Empress. All of the miniatures have been sculpted by Hicks and were designed by Vasiliy Levashov.
There are a lot of new World War I miniatures out there in the tabletop world right now. Whilst World War I has been played on the tabletop before this, 2021 seems like a big year for brand new metal miniatures and plastic sets too. It feels like a good time to dive into The Great War right now.
Are you liking the look of these new Russians which will become available soon?

I’m not very familiar with this period, but equally not completely ignorant of it either, however, I think this is the first time I have ever seen WW1 Russians depicted wearing helmets. I wonder how common this was? Maybe someone who is more familiar with the period might enlighten us? The figures in caps and fur hats are much more what I had understood WW1 Russians to look like, so the helmets are an interesting addition.
Over 1,977,000 Adrian helmets were sent to Russia from 1916 to Russia withdrawal from the war in 1917.They were Horizon blue and Khaki. May other Russian units that served on the Western front and the Balkans where also equipped with them directly from French supply.
With Russian Shock Battalions noted for being equipped with them in 1917. Both White, and Red Forces also used them in the Civil war. Would be a good way to indicated the well equipped storm detachments in a game, like say the Czech Legion.
The helmet even soldered on to the begging of world war 2.
Ooh nice figures The first lot look more French to me.?
@zorg, thats because the Russians used the French Adrian helmet at the time, even right up to the start of WW2, their helmets were still based on the French design
Aah that explains that then.
It’s great to see the helmet wearing varieties of Imperial Russians and the sculpts all around are really nice. If I ever look at a Russian Civil War project I will be making a purchase ?
Now we need some Russian troops armed with Madsen machine gun’s, Chauchat, and Fedorov Avtomat automatic rifles.
