New Starter Set Now Available For Spectre Operations
April 1, 2024 by brennon
Spectre Miniatures has now released a new Spectre Operations Starter Set for you to dive into. If you've ever been tempted by the idea of 28mm Ultramodern wargaming, this might be a good chance for you to dive in and give it a go.
Spectre Operations Starter Set // Spectre Miniatures
The Starter Set comes with everything that you need to get started in the game. You get two squads of miniatures representing a Task Force CQB Element and a band of Insurgent Fighters who they will be going up against.

As well as the two sets of miniatures, you also get the Spectre Operations Rulebook and a Quick Reference Guide. There is also a full Starter Scenario which you can dive into and get your head around the mechanics of the game. Spectre Operations has recently gone through an update so the rules have been refined and revamped to make the experience as smooth as possible.
If you've not heard of Spectre Operations before, it's a great game for those looking for a different experience at the tabletop. It thrives off the addition of a games master to throw spanners into the works during your operations but also works very nicely as a traditional wargame.
Capping things off, there is also a set of printed, highly detailed terrain in the set which represents a ruined urban landscape that the Insurgents are pushing through.
Expanding Your Collection
If this Starter Set gets you into playing Spectre Operations then you can also expand your collection with new miniatures for both factions.
Insurgent Commander // Spectre Operations
The Insurgents can get themselves an Insurgent Commander leading the way, making the situation a little more fiddly for your Task Force. If you want to then give your Insurgents some additional firepower, you can also pick up the Insurgent RPG 29 Team.

I like the idea of setting up a scenario where transport has to land in the nearby area and the Insurgents are intent on taking them down and stopping an evacuation or insertion. Your Task Force has been sent in to remove these RPG teams which have been set up on some of the rooftops nearby. You have to go house to house, fighting your way inside so that you can take them out, looking to make sure that the helicopters can land.
Aiding in that, the Task Force can also call on some more aid with the addition of the Task Force Grenadier here.
Task Force Grenadier // Spectre Operations
The Grenadier is going to be good for clearing the way but you might also need some heavy firepower when dealing with your Insurgent problem. Maybe they're holed up in some buildings or making use of technicals. Well, that's where you might want the use of the Enforcer armed with this man-portable missile system.

There is also a Spike option which is designed as a bit more of a fire-and-forget option for dealing with armour. These miniatures are high-quality 3D prints but if you have an option to print at home, you can also check out some STL files for you to work with instead.

All of these miniatures are now available over on the Spectre Miniatures webstore. I'm really glad that Spectre has worked on producing another cool Starter Set for the game as I think it will draw a lot more people to their range. It can be quite daunting working out where to start with something like Spectre Operations but this takes the thinking out of the equation, at least to start with.
Are you going to be scooping up some of these new releases from Spectre?
