New 12mm Previews For Victrix’s World War II Desert Range
October 1, 2024 by brennon
Victrix Miniatures has previewed some more of the 12mm World War II figures that they are going to be releasing in the next few weeks. Victrix is heading to the desert with infantry for the Afrika Korps and the 8th Army.
12mm 8th Army Infantry // Victrix Miniatures
The sprue once again comes with a good mixture of Riflemen including NCOs, Bren Gunners, Officers, Mortar Crews, Radio Operators, Mine Detectors and more that would be handy for use as part of the North Africa Campaign.
There will be four double frames in each set giving you loads of options for doing the infantry element of your North Africa British force. As always, the details are great as you can see in the preview above.
As well as the 8th Army, there is also a set of Afrika Korps Infantry being worked on for the Axis side of the conflict.

Much like with their previous releases, the 12mm World War II plastic miniatures have been created with plenty of little details based on the period. So, the German set features soldiers with two water bottles on their belts due to the heat of fighting in the desert. You also have soldiers with goggles and scarves to keep the sand out!
The 8th Army should be coming reasonably soon but the Afrika Korps miniatures will be a little further down the line.
Are you tempted by 12mm World War II in the desert?

Clipless sprues! What an innovation! Miniatures just hovering in the sprue to be picked. Why has nobody done this before?! XD
Come on LRDG. Maybe not the beast choice for a mas battle scale (or even a mad battle scale, thanks autocorrect) but I have a thing I want to do in 12mm.
Looks like Victrix will be getting more money from me…
As per usual….
The Italians are ignored (they probably had more manpower in N Africa than any other nation). So ok, they aren’t the “best” and their armour struggles against even British made Tonks BUT they were an important part of the war. I wonder if manufacturers avoid doing them like the plague because we “wargamers” will just not buy them (although just to be perverse, I’d buy loads). Is it that Wargamers prefer to ignore the history and prefer to just buy the best “toys” to go on the wargames table?
I guess it’s because of all the Desert Fox vs Monty stuff, when things finally turned around a bit for the Allies. People like happy stories.
The Italian part of the war, and indeed the pre-war, is good history though. Just not as well known.
