Fight In The Mountains With New WW2 Bolt Action Hungarians

Warlord Games recently released some new miniatures for your 28mm World War II wargames. The Hungarians are out in force and will be doing some fighting in the mountains as part of the Axis in Bolt Action.

First up, we have the core of your force in the form of the Mountain Infantry Section. The Hungarian Army specialised in mountain warfare and they often recruited men who were good climbers and had training in the field. These soldiers were also ruggedly determined and would be equipped with specialised climbing gear so they could get to places that regular troops couldn't.
This set contains an NCO as well as a soldier with a LMG and a bunch of rifles and SMGs. They are all in metal and are posed in the midst of fighting, getting their rifles into position to take a shot at the enemy.
You can also get your hands on the Border Guards Infantry Section.

These fellows do what they say on the tin. They patrolled the borders of Hungary in times of peace, war, German occupation and more. They are a solid fit for the new Engineer Platoons of the new edition of Bolt Action, able to clear out defences and set up in defensible positions well. Once again, these are all metal and you get a bunch of neat miniatures including the NCO and a flamethrower.
If you want some more fancy hats then you can get your hands on the Gendarmerie Battalion Section too.

These fellows, also known as the Csendőrség (say that three times fast) were a paramilitary that maintained law and order in rural areas of Hungary. They were also drawn into fighting with the regular army when they got dragged into The War on the side of the Axis. They could be fun when slotted in alongside your regular Riflemen to give them a wow factor.
Hungary had quite a time during World War II. They joined the Axis after close ties economically and also to stop the Soviets from crushing them under their boot. They did try and get out of the "partnership" later in The War but the Germans occupied them and kept them under their thumb. It means that when you play as Hungary in Bolt Action you have a lot of choice as to where you go with them narratively.
You can also snap up a Hungarian Tank Crew for use with the armoured section of your army.

These would be great alongside the likes of the 42M Toldi IIa Light Tank (which also got added to the webstore recently) but you could also use them as objective markers in your games.

This is a great set of miniatures for expanding your Axis forces in World War II and Bolt Action. You could use them alongside German troops or make a force entirely made up of Hungarians if you prefer.
Could you be tempted to go down the Hungarian route in Bolt Action?
"You could use them alongside German troops or make a force entirely made up of Hungarians if you prefer..."
Definitely not the greatest sculpts in the world, but at its an interesting and different army choice.
Technically this wouldn’t be a new project as I own some Magyars from Warlord and Great Escape(?) and an SP gun from who knows where. aargh I have no time and no space but this is the Axis itch I want to scratch.
I went to Sofia pre-End Times; the military museum there is OUTSTANDING! Bulgarians, mind you, but they have both a Saukopf AND block mantlet StuG III on display, in Bulgarian colours.
I spent an entire day at the museum. One of the best and most inexpensive trips I’ve ever taken! Eastern Europe is great to travel to.
I looking forward to seeing what reviews this army gets, if it goes well, I might look into it for a minor army option.
