Rubicon Craft Montgomery & A Russian Tank Commander For WWII
June 17, 2016 by brennon
Rubicon Models have previewed some of the work they've been doing on characters for World War II to act as commanders of your tank platoons. Kicking off they did some work on Bernard Montgomery who should be a familiar face.
These models will be produced in plastic and will come out alongside their tanks so that you have some neat choices for the tabletop and your dioramas.
While not as famous as Bernard Montgomery we also have this fantastic Soviet character in Mariya Oktyabrskaya who was a Tank Commander.
She was the first female tank commander to be awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union award for her bravery and action in combat. You can see her alongside one of the male Tank Commanders here too.
I think it's rather cool that we're seeing the guys at Rubicon looking at creating these characters for your games and looking at lesser known figures like Mariya.
What do you think?
"She was the first female tank commander to be awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union award for her bravery and action in combat..."

They’ve rendered Monty three times – oh, I get it – it’s the sequel to ‘I was Monty’s Double.’ 🙂
You guys need to cover more of the Rubicon kits!
I think they look fantastic!
Would be interesting to see how they compare to Bolt Action figures size wise.
They certainly look far more realistic but I’d love to use them in my existing armies..
Great looking figures . You should check out their web site . They are working on all sorts of figures , a SAS , British Airborne and GI set for their forth coming Jeep kits as well as several German crews for an assortment of halftrack types . I’m looking forward to the SdKfz 251 / 22 kit and gun crew
The tank commander is actually Aleksandra Samusenko the woman named here was a tank crewwoman (driver if I remember right) she died a propper Soviet style death of a hero. Wounded in a small obscure village then run over by a tank.
nice.
