Let’s Play: Chain Of Command – A Hasty Defence
March 11, 2019 by johnlyons
This time we get John to provide a Hasty Defence against the German blitzkrieg in Chain Of Command from TooFatLardies.
The Hasty Defence scenario is one from the new Blitzkrieg 1940 book for Chain of Command and, to John's delight, will feature a couple of armoured fighting vehicles!
Does John deserve the Légion d'Honneur or a straight jacket?

Another great CoC game. Always enjoyable.
Always enjoy these CoC Let’s Play games, especially the blitz era ones. The Patrol Phase makes for a clever way to deploy. I will admit, it took watching a couple Let’s Plays to get to grips with it though. I can see where you could adopt it to just about any miniature wargame with an otherwise open deployment.
another great video.
Great game – but what did the guy in the French uniform do ?
He’s a Support option called “Dirty Nazi Tricks”. There’s four types. Civilians which run towards the allies jump off point. Germans can shoot through them with no penalty (then they disappear) but if the allies shoot through them they can lose Force Moral. If the Allies get them off the table they can gain Force Moral. Enemy Officer. You can put him next to a Senior Leader and he can shut him down unless the Senior leader rolls high. He can also be assigned to the enemies deployment point to make it harder for them to bring troops onto the… Read more »
Although nothing in this game, he is a 5th columnist! If he had been deployed he would either have “distracted” a British senior leader with misinformation so the senior leader wouldn’t have been able to use his activations or deployed next to a British jump off point and stopped them using it! It’s a “Shabby Nazi trick”!
Great game guys really nice to see some early war action
It’s a good period. Less rock-paper-scissors around Tigers and whatnot, anti-tank rifles still having an effect. I’m up to my eyes in projects but would love to knock together some early war Brits, rubbish tanks and all!
Excellent stuff, really enjoyed it.
Great play through guys, really enjoyed it!
Another cracking battle. I really like the look of Chain of Command
Liking CoC, i like how it play
s and how quickly things can change. One minute you have the upper hand and next it goes tit
s up. Will be re-watching this, as theres a few things i did
nt quite grasp.Great game guy`s, and give that French tank man a gong.
Another great game. Chain of Command is simply the best. Gotta love the early war stuff. It’s nice to get away from those dominating ‘Big Cats’ for once. Some brave? bayonet charging there from John…Doh! Hope to see more CofC let’s plays 😉
Oh dear John. I thought you actually had that game stitched up, good defensive position, good jump off points, the Boyes rifle distracting the panzer and some excellent support options. Admittedly you were unlucky not to destroy the squad caught in the rear, and Rich had some pretty good dice, but: – no use of smoke from the 2″ mortar, you seemed to forget about the Boyes, and I may be wrong, but surely the senior leader can get within command range of the Vickers and order them? As for the suicide squad charge over open ground against a panzer… Read more »
Binge watched these CoC lets plays. Great fun although I feel for poor Rich. He creates a ruleset and gets beat most of the time!
