Helicopters Swoop Into World War III: Team Yankee & Red Dawn
January 2, 2023 by brennon
Battlefront Miniatures are continuing to expand on the options for those diving into World War III: Team Yankee - Red Dawn this year. The big focus of this week's releases is the mass of helicopters swooping in from high.

The focus of the first helicopter, the HiP, is to make sure that your Soviet Infantry gets dropped right into the heart of the action. It can carry eight troops into the heart of the fighting so if you land on an objective, you can hold it for at least a few rounds. It can also shoot once landed allowing you to offer up some covering fire.
The next of the miniatures that you're going to be able to pick up is the CH-47 Chinook which has a very well-known silhouette.

Whereas the last helicopter was a decent transport option, the Chinook will be your army's workhorse. You will undoubtedly want to pick up a few of these when it comes to getting your army onto the tabletop and threatening objectives right across the battlefield. I think it helps that the miniature is so iconic!
If you want to get a bit fancier, you could snap up the CH-46 Sea Knight.

This is another great-looking option when it comes to transport. The Sea Knight had quite a job during the Vietnam War and was one of the primary transport options for the US Marines. It would sit in the middle of the likes of the Huey and the Sea Stallion.
Talking of the CH-53 Sea Stallion, here it is!

This fellow gets a passenger capacity of ten and can carry two Wiesel Tank Teams. If you're looking to support the Americans then you will want to drop one of these into the equation. That big fat belly on the Sea Stallion certainly gets across the vibe that this is something to contend with.
Missiles To Fight Over & Infantry
Finishing things off for the releases dropping this week, we have something a bit different. For example, could you be tempted to set up the FROG-7 Launcher and have it land a big ol' missile right in the heart of the enemy army?

The thing is, you're going to want to actually get your hands on it before you get to fire it. This has been designed as an objective for use in your games or it could work well as a centrepiece for the tabletop, showcasing the theatre of war that you're battling in.
Last but not least, you have access to the Cuban AGS-17 Grenade Launcher Team.

Now your Cubans have access to a grenade launcher (ho, ho, ho?). It often helps to have something a bit hefty to fire at the enemy, chasing them from cover or indeed destroying the cover they are hoping to hide behind.
These miniatures are Direct Only so you can get them from Battlefront Miniatures over on the links provided here. Loads of new releases become available later in January so watch out for that and then we'll see where we go from there!

Fab looking choppers.
15mm Chinooks – a great way to start the year.
Helicopters, great idea but the size is just too big, rotors everywhere. if they were made in 1/144 or 12mm scale, i think it would have worked better since helicopters, honestly, a unit of Hinds is the worst on the table and transporting is a nightmare. One of the reasons TY fell out of favor at the club. Will pick up the book but think TY has jumped the shark.
BF have a cardboard pack as an alternative. The models are a limited run in resin.
From unboxing vids it seems these do not fit together well, and come with cardboard rotas. 3D prints seems to be the way to go.
