Gringo 40’s Bulk Up Their MACV-SOG Range For 28mm Vietnam
November 25, 2022 by brennon
Gringo 40's has been showing off some new 28mm metal releases for their pretty darn expansive Vietnam War range. Some of the newest miniatures they have released are focused around building up their MACV-SOG collection.

I wasn't aware of this until I checked out their webstore but the above acronym means "Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group" (insert "the more you know" gif). So, you'll be sending these folks ahead of the main force to keep an eye on what's happening with the enemy.

The four miniatures that we now have access to come with a few different weapons. The first of the miniatures (above) comes with an MP40 and the second (just above) is rocking the classic Thompson SMG.
The third of the more general miniatures comes armed with the Thompson SMG but also comes with a shotgun strapped to his back as well. You can never have too many guns, especially when you're stuck in the jungles of Vietnam.

My favourite miniatures from their recent set of releases though is Radio Operator With MP40. This fellow is taking a swift drink before the shooting starts and the artillery needs to be called in. He also comes with a lovely doggo in the form of his Alsatian, “Rhino”.

It seems like Rhino might have ended up spotting something further ahead in the undergrowth that needs to be dealt with. This then makes for a dynamic little team that you could see being sent out into the sweltering heat, keeping an eye out for the enemy and supporting the push of the main US force.
The Gringo 40's collection is pretty darn endless. So, if you've ever wanted to explore Historical wargaming in 28mm but also 40mm then it might be worth having a deeper dive into their collection.
Could you be tempted by these new Vietnam War miniatures?

Was confused about inclusion of MP40s. Did my research to find indeed was used by US Special Forces frequently during the early part of US involvement in the Vietnam War.
