Forged In Battle Brings A Experimental Tank To 15mm Wargaming
October 22, 2018 by brennon
The folks at Forged In Battle have been tinkering away on a new tank and the B-97 Tortoise Heavy Assault Tank is now ready to hit the tabletop in 15mm.
This was actually a tank that while conceptualised was never actually put into action during World War II.
It was designed to clear heavily fortified locations and favoured masses of armour over being able to move very quickly at all.
By the time this would have hit the battlefield you could have seen it getting outclassed by many of the Axis vehicles although it makes a great project for someone looking to add a bit more authenticity to their Weird World War force.
What do you think of this particular tank?

filth wagon, thankfully I have a ratte ordered so I’m fine 🙂
I think there is one at Bovington
Yeah,there is.It’s absolute beast of a thing.
Of all the times I’ve been to England, I’ve never been close enough or had enough time to make it to Bovington…stupid work. 🙁
I went to Bovington on my first trip there after finding out about it while I was there, long train ride from London but totally worth it. The ‘new’ hall was still undergoing fitout then, and you could only stand on a platform just inside the doorway and see a handful of vehicles as they tested layouts, so I need to go again some time.
I remember standing in front of TOG, but I don’t remember the Tortoise and can’t see it in my photos, so it must have been one of the vehicles in storage waiting for the new hall.
There is a Tortoise at Bovington. Bloody huge. Bigger than a Kingtiger and ugly though not as ludicrous as the TOG 2 (also at Bovington)
It’s years since I’ve been there so wasn’t sure if I remembered correctly
This vs a Maus would be interesting.
Like a race maybe 🙂
tortoise the tiger killer ?
IRC the one at Bov runs , seen videos of it at last years Tank Fest . It would have been a big cat killer as it had a 32pdr gun ! Armor 225mm max , weight 174000 lbs , top speed 12mph road / 4 mph cross country . I really like this “tank ” , might have to get one even though 15mm isn’t my regular scale . There’s also one available in 1/35 scale , always thought it would make a great Space Marine type tank with a little kit bashing
So this is basically Allied version of Maus.
