Empress Mount Up In Recce Vehicles & Bring Out The Grenade Launchers
February 18, 2016 by brennon
Empress Miniatures have showed off some more Modern Combat miniatures that have dropped into their collection for both the British and the Americans. First of all they have some crews for the recce vehicles that you might be using to scout the landscape...
As you can see they have created gunners, drivers and other crew that will be manning the different stations on the vehicle. I like how this is practically a mobile command centre bristling with guns. It seems like something from a Sci-Fi film let along a modern vehicle.
Following on from that they have some folks with MK19 Grenade Launchers in both a British and American style. If you want a little bit of extra firepower they might be able to help out.
Empress are fast becoming a big presence in this Modern Combat field of miniatures. They've obviously been at it for a while and have a lot of very specific kits which could help you build on a force made mostly from other ranges. Maybe you'll even get your full squad from them?
What do you think of these additions?

Have to say been watching Empress for a while and have always been really impressed with their kit, this just puts them ahead of the game.
…just passing (honestly) and I have to say that is stunning!
very nice.
I really like their modern range and have about 30 British and about another 30 US Marines.
Personally I would have preferred more kit like day sacks or additional ammo but generally they are marvellous and the Coyote/ Jackal looks stunning indeed.
That’s a sweet kit.
I may be very wrong but the vehicle might actually be Airfix’s 1/48 Jackal and the figures are just being shown as fitting. Bathe actual Airfix figures are brutal looking.
I have seen that kit and it is not bad. Operation Herrick pack? However, I bet that one looks better.
What is that vehicle? It looks like something out of Mad Max, but I assume it’s real… I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it.
It’s a Jackal used by the British Army. There is also a longer 6 wheel version (Cyote) used for supply.
Originally introduced as a UOR (Urgent Operational Requirement) for use in Afghanistan the UK now plans to equip 3 armoured Reece regiments with this.
Thanks. What is the thinking behind how it’s supposed to be used? It’s got guns and what looks like bits of armour, but is also open-topped. Is it supposed to be used in combat? Why does this exist when you could drive a truck for transporting stuff or a Humvee (or one of the modern, more robust replacements) for driving around in hostile environments?
Sorry for the delay in replying.
It is designed with the road side bomb threat in mind. Most of the armour is underneath. The open top aspect allows good all round vision, to spot potential threats early and also interaction with the local population, not possible in a fully enclosed box.
In the future this will be used in the recce role where good visibility and lower profile is more important than armour.
