Empress Introduce 28mm Navy SEALs To The Vietnam War
January 20, 2021 by brennon
Empress Miniatures has continued with their releases for the Vietnam War period with a selection of Special Forces options in 28mm. You can now pick up a SEAL Team for the US as six characters bring an array of weapons to the tabletop.
Navy SEALs // Empress Miniatures
Following the lead of Empress Miniatures, this is how the miniatures break down from left to right. First up you've got a soldier carrying an AK47 which was used because it didn't spook the enemy. The character also has a Colt Commander pistol in hand which has a suppressor attached.
Next to him, we have a character with an M60 LMG which allowed the team to lay down heavy and constant fire. Continuing along the line, we have two characters with M16s wearing LEVI jeans (as was pretty common) with one of them working as the radio operator for the crew.

The set is finished off with a character carrying a LAWS and a sawn-off pump-action shotgun. He is using a Stoner LMG with its drum magazine. The final miniature is carrying an M16 with a grenade launcher strapped underneath for an extra bit of firepower.
This is another great set of characters and could well be the core of your skirmish force during a game. I like the idea that THIS is all you'd need to pick up for playing as the US in the Vietnam War and you could then focus on building up the opposing Viet Cong force and the terrain for your table.
Are you liking the look of these new miniatures from Empress?

US navy seals in nam? Was that not rangers back then. Nice looking figures to game with. Ooh it was 1962 they were officially formed but did mission before that as a specialist forces unit.
Yep, they did lots of missions, Empress also has Recon Marines and just released some MACV-SOG figures.
LRRPs should show up soon, once they switch gears from from ANZAC and USMC. And start focusing on the US army.
Is it just me or is the point man ordering everyone to stop carrying an unloaded weapon? I can’t make out a magazine in the M16
Remember they used 20 round mags then. So half the mag will be in the weld.
Yes it looks that way I never noticed it until you pointed this out.
On closer inspection I can barely see it when I blow it up. Line on the magazine blends in with the fingers
Empress really do pack in that detail
