Deep-Cut’s New Mats Take To The Skies Once More
July 13, 2015 by brennon
Deep-Cut Studios have taken to the skies once more with another aerial battle mat which you can check out below. This one has a bit more of an American feel to it with a Fields Theme and a small town situated among a forest...
Once again this feels like a mat that would serve you well for more modern military dogfights although you could probably get away with it being useful for mid to late 20th century air combat too. The mats are certainly looking nice but the next step is seeing what games people can actually play on them.
You could even play a small scale 'top down RTS' style game on them with small scale infantry, tanks and more. It wouldn't have to be limited just to aircraft.
What do you think?

Depending on the altitude of the mat, these could be great for Hawk’s new Orbital game
Look a bit too close to the ground for that, I did hear a 4 by 4 would cover roughly the size of Spain – I do like the idea
Yeah, ‘Dropfleet’ is going to be played in orbit rather than over towns. It’s a step in the right direction though and I can see deepcut doing something for it. I’m not sure what you’d be played on a mat like this though.
They could still make mats from a higher altitude. Just need the satalite pictures
