Daniel Mersey Drops New Rules For Armoured Storm: The Eastern Front
April 14, 2023 by brennon
Daniel Mersey has been busy developing some more wargaming rules for those wanting to dive into Historical wargaming on the tabletop. The most recent book from Mersey is Armoured Storm: The Eastern Front which focuses on World War II tank battles between 1941-1945.
Armoured Storm: The Eastern Front // Daniel Mersey
The focus of Armoured Storm: The Eastern Front and the rest of the You Command series of light wargames is that you can get stuck into some quick-playing, simple-to-learn games of tank-versus-tank combat on the tabletop. The focus here is on the Eastern Front of World War II where players will take control of between fifteen and thirty tanks per side plus additional HQ tanks that lead the way.
Players will then command one or more companies of tanks that can be organised into platoons. There is a focus on giving orders and working as a tank commander rather than simply a gunner or driver. You need to work out how to be in the best place to level your advantage against your foes. The You Command system uses the Tactics Chart, an innovative mechanic worked into these wargames from Mersey.
Scale-wise, Armoured Storm works with miniatures from 1/300 and 1/200 scale through to 15mm and 20mm. So, you've got a lot of choices when it comes to the miniature ranges you can draw from.
Are you going to be picking up Armoured Storm and getting stuck into a BIG tank battle?

Ooh that’s quite a departure from Mr Mersey. Love the artwork too!
Ooh The eastern front battles were a blood bath for troops & civilians.
I have plenty of 1/100 scale tanks. I keep buying Gf9 miniatures, so this is very interesting.
