Converted Ships Join Warlord’s Victory At Sea Armada

Warlord Games has offered up some new resin kits for those diving into Victory At Sea, their World War II naval wargame. You can now pick up three ships that have been converted to aid the war effort.
Ammunition Ship // Victory At Sea
The navy and armies of World War II needed masses of ammunition in order to continue fighting. To that end, massive ships were vital to the war effort, laden down with ammo. These cargo ships did so at great risk though. If the enemy got a bead on them, they would explode in an impressive fashion. You don't want to be sitting on a powder keg when torpedos are whizzing around.
Next up, we have the Seaplane Tender.
Seaplane Tender // Victory At Sea
These merchant ships were refitted to include light anti-aircraft armaments. They couldn't really hold their own against some of the more deadly planes of the period but would be often useful in taking out reconnaissance aircraft and spotting enemy vessels on the horizon. You would also see them with seaplanes and whilst they didn't have the weapons to sink one, they could force is away with the promise of incoming fire if they didn't scarper!
Lastly, we turn our attention to the Tramp Freighter.
Tramp Freighter // Victory At Sea
Found in every conflict during the period, they would be trading goods around the world and shipping important assets to where they needed to be. Some of these Tramp Freighters would be protected by warships keeping them safe from harm but if they were ever spotted alone, they could easily be utterly destroyed.
Obviously, all of these ships would be perfect for those seeking to put together some interesting scenarios in Victory At Sea. A neat set of new 1/1800 scale ships for display and gaming purposes.
Are you liking the look of these new releases?

Bit pricey at £13 a ship. I dunno what’s happened since Warlord moved to their new HQ, but I presume the bills must be high because Warlord has got VERY expensive over the past year 🙁
For what they are they are expensive yes. Sure increased material costs, inflation etc.. but those prices for relatively simply models isn’t going to help the game. And if in genuinely costs them that much to produce with acceptable margins then selling stls with some 3rd party print option might be the way.
Good looking ship’s for game’s.
