Clash Of Steel Expands With New Starter Sets From Gale Force Nine

Clash Of Steel, the What If? game from Gale Force Nine that launched last year will get a couple of new Starter Sets for those wanting to dive into this alternative history where the World War started again in 1948.

The new sets are subtitled Global Uprising and continue telling the story of Clash Of Steel with many armoured vehicles. The first of the sets sees the Americans going up against the Soviets whilst the second set will feature the Germans versus the British. The game has expanded and so has the narrative in Clash Of Steel so those who got stuck in during the initial release will see the timeline move on and their theatre of war change.

Of course, that means plenty of additional tanks for you to start running in July 2025. As with the previous release for Clash Of Steel, this will be an all-plastic set in 15mm scale. You'll also get everything else that you need to play in these sets including rules, cards, tokens and more.

One of the benefits of Clash Of Steel seems to be that Gale Force Nine has refined the way they are putting together their tank-based miniatures games. One of the mechanics of Clash Of Steel that's particularly neat is the addition of "Dynamic Mission Based Game Play" so each of your battles plays out a little differently and there are always shifting objectives. This means you can't just blast your opponent off the table in order to win.

As well as the new Starter Sets for Clash Of Steel, there will also be a full Flashpoint set which you can use for playing out a campaign in Clash Of Steel. This one is named the Battle For Hungary and moves the timeline to 1953. The Americans have rushed to defend Hungary against the Soviets and the Germans are pushing back into their homeland.

I really like that you have this "Alliance" of the British, Americans and the Germans but the Germans have very little want to aid against the Soviets. Instead, they are just focused on conquering Germany and unifying it. It should make for some interesting dynamics on the battle map. This is something that a club or store could enjoy snapping up to make the most from Clash Of Steel.
