Brother Vinni Fight Alongside A New German Officer
June 27, 2019 by brennon
Brother Vinni has introduced another new model into the mix for those getting stuck into World War II wargaming. This time around they have a German Officer carrying his rifle and leading soldiers into battle.
This new model comes cast in resin and it's pretty highly detailed as you can see. He looks like he has been through the wringer quite a bit already and yet is still ready to lead his men into the thick of the fighting.
This is a nice compromise in terms of sculpting between creating a commanding figure and one that is clearly getting stuck into the fighting. You could imagine him having just shot his rifle, raising his fist and calling his soldiers forward as they run between cover.
I reckon this fellow would make a good addition to many a German force. He's also wearing a nice big coat which should be a joy to paint!
Will you be adding him into the mix?

Very nice.
Nice looking figure , love the cut of the coat . Not really impressed by the rifle though , what is it supposed to be ? Looks nothing like a Mauser . Drill out the barrel and you could use it as a shot gun . If I was to buy this I would swap out the rifle hand and replace it with a part from the spares box from either Rubicon or Warlord
Its a nice sculpt but i dont get what he is doing? I find the pose a bit weird and to @A27cromwells point the rifle does look a bit like a shotgun
Either he is about to fist bump someone or the bass is about drop in the club!
Punching the air and calling his soldiers forward from behind him?
why a rifle?
So he can shoot people presumably.
According to the german manual.. he shouldnt be shooting anyone and should be leading his troops.. an SMG at most for personal protection. But who am I to bring out the historical pedantry? This model is just awkward all the way around.. Ill pass.
Didn’t officers in WW2 like to swap weapons because enemy snipers would target the soldier with the SMG believing it to be the officer?
“Fred, fancy swapping me your rifle and you can have this machine gun instead? The vibrations are loosening my filings and you have the best teeth in the squad. Cheers, Fred, appreciate it”.
I think the hat would give this model away in anycase..
yes i read this in a sniper on the eastern fronts book. he also stated snipers would normally hide their guns as well and pick up a normal rifle because they were shoot on sight if caught
In a certain popular 28mm WWII game, it’s advantageous to have your officer using a rifle(to pin enemies from a distance) or an assault rifle(if late war/so he can be in the midst of the fray).
Nice mini but as @civilcourage and @a27cromwell said that Rifle looks very weird. If you shaved the Bolt off it would make a good Musket
