Bombers Soar Through Blood Red Skies Soon From Warlord Games
June 25, 2018 by brennon
Blood Red Skies from Warlord Games has a wealth of World War II planes to draw from as they grow their game and it seems like the next focus is going to be towards Bombers.
The British get their hands on the Bristol Blenheim Mk IV leading the way with some absolutely stunning artwork on the box. That truly is a fantastic impression of the bomber and these daring pilots who battled it out in the skies over Europe.
The Germans get themselves the Junkers JU88 A...
...and the Junkers JU52 German Transport Aircraft which will be dropping off paratroopers across the mainland. We're going to be seeing some fun escort missions and more coming through when these new models land and I can't wait to see John let loose on them with his brush.
It's not just the British and the Germans who are getting themselves a set of aircraft to play around with though as the Soviets also get to jump in on the mix with the Soviet Tupolev SB2 Bomber.
I didn't really think about the other countries and their bombers as I've grown up just learning about the British and German clash in the air.
Which of the Bombers are you going to be picking up? I really, really want to get stuck into some games now I've seen these!
What do you think?

I think it is time I got in to this game! Just waiting for the Hurricane and Mosquito and i’ll be jumping in.
If they make a Lancaster they will probably get my money lol. I have a huge soft spot for the Lancaster bomber and a huge amount of respect for the men that flew in them. Plus it’s an amazing looking plane, which always helps.
I had a quick look at Hannants and there seem to be only 5 1/200 kits from Zvesda
Warlord announced the Hurricanes and BF110 in a previous issue of wargame illustrated 😉 I believe last month, will have to check once home.
Adding those that makes a LOT of new planes to get in and painted 😉 man… Ju 52…
Well, this arts from Zvezda’s production. So, unfortunately, this is hog-wash

They are for real. Popped up on the official Blood Red Skies FB page @geekwars
You will get three of them in a pack alongside all of the additional gubbins you need to play.
Nah, it’s definitely a conspiracy @brennon
I yhink They are just doing what they did with he Italeri range and bolt action which was to rebox it as their own packaging
Are the models also by Zvezda, or is it just the lovely artwork they are re-purposing for red skies?
I remember the Zvesda stuff being very nice do presume they would using the models as well as the artwork as I’m sure it would be cheaper buying of Zvesda than tooling your own designs
I remember them being £2 to £3 each
I have the core set, but was not interested in expanding with more single engine fighters… twin engine fighters would be better, but I’ll settle for bombers.
Ooh looks good, will be picking up some of those 88s and another core box to get some scenarios going!
Been reading up on the air battles in the North African campaign and that Blenheim would work wonderfully. Hadn’t realised till now that initially the Brits and the Italians were actually duking it out in Biplanes over the desert!
a great variety of mid range bombers.
Love the Boxart !
That’s it I Am sold I love the Blenheim,Just read this book short but fascinating story of a Blenheim pilots experiences.

Just ordered,Core box, British and German Aces, Decals and a Deep Cut Studio Gaming Mat. Will need to take upto a week off from my DeGenesis Project to paint up all planes.
Frankly, more bombers than I really wanted. I wanted more fighters like the P-40 Warhawk and F4F Wildcats (Martlet in British service).
I believe the Hurricanes and Focke Wulf 190s are included in the next release as well.
I already picked up a British twin and German twin for my game tables from other sources. They look good on the table too!
Tempted by the game, and these definitely increase the temptation. Not sure how much mission variety it has though.
