November 12, 2024 by brennon
If you're looking to bulk out your Winter army for the United States in World War II and Bolt Action, Warlord Games has new sets to scoop up. These sets would be great additions to the existing plastic miniatures available as part of the Battle Of The Bulge set and beyond.
US Airborne (Winter) HQ // Bolt Action
A lot of these additional sets that you can pick up are in Warlord Resin and you can start with the likes of this new Winter HQ set for your Airborne troops. This comes with four miniatures with two of them being great Officer miniatures. The other two miniatures in the set give you a Medic and a Radio Operator.
If you want to pick a route through the woods or set up for an airborne assault, avoiding German patrols as you do, you can also get your hands on the US Airborne Pathfinder Squad, also in their winter kit.
US Airborne Pathfinder Squad // Bolt Action
This set comes with ten miniatures representing the elite volunteers who were drawn from the ranks of the Airborne. The Pathfinders had to drop into landing zones before the arrival of the main force and set up the specialist equipment that would then guide the aircraft and hopefully mean that the rest of the troops would land on target.
This set comes with enough for you to field as regular Airborne with a twist or you could include them as NCOs, Spotters and Forward Observers. Warlord Games also mentioned that they could be getting special rules in the upcoming Armies Of The United States book.
Special and Heavy Weapons are available for you to snap up for your winter-themed US Army and Airborne forces.

US Army (Winter) Heavy Weapon Platoons // Bolt Action
The Airborne Weapons Team set comes with options for your fast-moving Airborne Rifle Platoons. You can get yourself a Sniper Team, a Light Mortar Team and a Bazooka Team for clearing out armour. A solid addition to your Rifle Platoon.
The Heavy Weapons Platoon for use with the US Army comes with the bonus of a .30 cal Medium Machine Gun and a .50 cal Heavy Machine Gun. The Medium Mortar then caps things off, giving you some great options for pinning down your enemies.
You won't end up making it through a battle without a few casualties so you can also get the US Army Stretcher Team & Casualties which could be good for adding some narrative to your armies or as markers for game conditions in place of a regular pin marker.
US Army (Winter) Stretcher Team & Casualties // Bolt Action
The Stretcher Team themselves would be great alongside your traditional Medics and the Casualties will look great when put towards the back of units to show when they are taking damage and or pinning effects from the enemy army.
If you've decided that you want to get stuck into playing Bolt Action and these smaller sets don't cut it, there is also the full US Army (Winter) Starter Army which you can pick up from Warlord Games right now.

What do you make of these new Winter sets for Bolt Action?
"Now you just need an opponent with the Winter Germans and you can play out some mega Bulge-themed scenarios..."
I wonder when Warlord will invest in someone who can actually sculpt. Another round of just awful misshapen lycanthropic lead.
