New Bolt Action Rules On the Horizon!
June 27, 2012 by brennon
If you're a fan of historical gaming in the European theatre of War during World War II then Warlord Games will have you sorted out soon enough. The Bolt Action rules are just around the corner...
The new rules will make playing World War II games all that more interesting and it will be good to have a proper flick through the book and uncover the gems. As well as the new rulebook coming soon Warlord are continuing their trend of bringing out a special model for the range.
The German soldier with the MP40 on the cover will be taking this accolade and if you place an order for the book through the Warlord website then you will be able to get him for free!
Are you excited for the future of Bolt Action?
Given its 28mm, I find this much more attractive than flames of war to be honest, plus, Warlord make some of the very best rulebooks out there, they have a dry wit that I really like, and unlike some, remember that its toy soldiers at the heart of it all and we really shouldnt take it as seriously as some do.
Yes, flames of war doesn’t appeal to me for the same reason. This looks really intriguing though and I cannot wait to hear more! 🙂
For me, collecting and painting figures is as enjoyable as wargaming and I prefer 28mm.
I have bought numerous figures over the years just because i liked them and they have never seen any table top action.
Looks like the WWII ones may get their chance.
yes warlord do some brill 28mm ww2 stuff, but there are some other good companies out there too. plus you could quite easily get your hands on some 1/48 or 1/56 plastic tanks (I think hobbyboss does a T34 for about a tenner)
I think I will be jumping on this when it comes out. I love ww2 games but like others have said, the scale for FoW was just not my cup o tea.
I’m going to give this a try, and if it doesn’t scratch the itch, I’ll probably head to Flames of War… I really want Bolt Action to be GREAT.
Can’t wait! Back to painting my growing 28mm WW2 collection!
Why won’t they release info about force organization prior to the rule release? The models are at my local stores and all over the web and I’d hate to make the mistake I made when flames of war first came out and buy what looks good only to find out it can’t be used together, etc.
Not an answer but if you base purchases on history you won’t go wrong the guys, Paul Sawyer has fantastic knowledge of ww2
@dags as the ratio is 1:1 that would be good advice. There is an article in this months Wargames Illustrated about the rules
