Today I'm joined by Charlie from Warlord Games to talk about Bolt Action's new epic Campaign Book; Market Gardens.

Market Garden was the "Bridge too far" as personified by the movie that would potentially end the war in 1944.
This volume covers a very short space of time compared to other Bolt Action campaign books – just a matter of nine days in September 1944 – and is focused on a much smaller geographical area; a single narrow route through the Netherlands rather than a broad sweep of very variable terrain across several countries.
How would you turn the war in Christmas '44?
Grreat book with a lot of well thought out scenarios, army lists and more special character rules than I would have expected. The only criticism I have is a mild one, which is the omission of rules for Colonel Joe Vandeleur, which seems strange as there is an existing model, and the book mentions him, and he is such a high profile key player.

My Normandy Brits are a bit summery looking for this, but the greatcoats are on the way ..
Sounds good.
I’ve been digging my copy, but I do have one or two minor nitpicks. One is the absence of JOE Vandeleur, but the other is some slightly unclear language. For instance, the American Airborne Reinforced Platoon can quote ‘be freely mixed with any of the British Units that appear in the XXX Corps lists’. Presumably this means using some of those platoons listed in that section in the same force, but the use of the word ‘unit’ is somewhat unclear – and unlike some of the other campaign books there’s no explanations as to if or how the new units… Read more »
My fault entirely vvonmukluk…I meant that they can be added to any force made up form XXX Corps options; a loose use of the term ‘unit’…apologies! Come and join us at Arnhem in September (Facebook group ‘Arnhem Wargames’) and you can give me a row in person…I deserve it!
Thanks for the response, uglyfatbloke! So it’s more in line with the description later in the book of how XXX Corps forces can have a platoon of US Paratroopers (although that does have its own slightly unclear language considering what units would be mandatory compared to the actual US Airborne selector). That aside, very excited to give the combined forces a spin! I actually got into historicals through the free 11th Armoured Division PDF list Flames of War did back in 3rd edition, so it’ll be nice to recreate it in Bolt Action, since my Open Fire starter never saw… Read more »
I do like the campaign books. Will have to get this one at some point.
Look`s like another book to be added to the growing collection, liking the smaller units idea as they`ll make for a more varied game play.
