What I’d love to see is Plastic support weapons (HMGs, MMGs, Mortars etc) cos on one hand I love metal on the other hand I hate how they all have the same pose. The airborne sprue is a welcome addition but now the gripes: first off it looks like it won’t come with the infantry weapons sprues- no big deal really since you can take a bunch of guys in regular gear as glider troops so you’ll probably have both on hand. Second, the rivet/stitch counting: that’s a Polish BAR. the US issued them with rifle style grips only, there… Read more »
I’d also like plastic heavy/support weapons as I have no love of metal miniatures.
Oh, did Ritch say that Warlord has just released a plastic Churchill? I ask because the image that came up was a Sherman and I’m sure there’s been a plastic Sherman for a while now.
The churchill is out, and makes 7 different variants with 6pdr, 75 mm 95mm howitzer and the ridiculous 290mm mortar options.
There are actually two sherman kits, the “M4 sherman” which I think is an A2 but could be used as a stand in for anything but an A1, jumbo or e8 really and the sherman v which is an a4, but with a stiff upper lip. Infuriatingly both only come with 75mm guns, unless you find the 3 pack of sherman v, in that case you get the bits to make a firefly.
The Firefly is actually a separate kit, now. It is basically a Sherman V kit with an extra sprue, so if you are clever you can make it interchangeable, I think, between a V and a VC.
Bolt Action keeps tempting me. Would love some plastic Italians. Would also like the Autoblinda AB41 to be included in the build an army options.
Thankfully Rubicon are in the process of making plastic support weapons (maybe Warlord will follow) 😎
I’m not too concerned about the BARs as my 101st won’t get any. I’ll convert mine to D-day paratroopers and as far as I’m aware they didn’t take them on jumps.
High up on my Warlord wish list are plastic Germans in greatcoats, plastic Volkssturm and generic plastic armed civilians/ partisans.
British Paras are apparently in the pipeline already which is great but those three things would really make me throwing money at them!
Anyhow, it’s great to see yet more Bolt Action backstage 😎
I think a few units did practice jumps with BARs in England to prove it could be done, but for d-day the risk of the extra weight meant the BARs were only given to Glider troops. I’ve found a couple references to them being in the bundles they dropped before the troops jumped too, but the .30 M1919a4 was the norm, and those are easy enough to make from the A6s on the sprue, just lop the stock and carry handle off and chop up the bipod to make the tripod lug or use some styrene rod to make the… Read more »
Looking forward to the campaign books. All the books have been great value so far. Things I’d like to see. Some bailed out Tank crews would be nice . A Wirbelwind, a Type 92 tankette, Begleit models for my Stugs
Like the idea of campaign books. Love the stuff that is coming for bolt action.
What no mention of the new German Army book.
Thanks for this … I have to expand my K47 with a bit of BA2 … cheers
Great airborne minies!
As You have already gone into Hollywood with the Heroes and that weird Tigertank…I would suggest taht You did the headsculpts for all the named characters from Band of Brothers so when I get the Airborne kit I can make the beloved characters from 101st Screaming Eagles and play with them on the tabletop.
It would be awesome to field Captain Winthers, Medic Eugene Monroe, Bull and all the others!
Then some special rules for them in a theater book…Market Garden perhaps…would just be icing on the cake!
Currahee!
Amazon indicated its Battle of Bulge and what if one – Operation SeaLion for first 2 campaign books…..
They already did a whole metal Lt Winters as an Open Day fig…
My gripes with their plastics are mainly the weapons. They can be pretty fragile. The fix? You got me.
What’s with that GIANT machete?
Disappointed with that BAR. It’s a small thing, but you’re a historical miniature company…..
am i the only one who cant stand to see the pistol grip on the BAR… i mean top notch miniatures but kinda surprised warlord let that slip
