Mantic Games Launch Firefight Pre-Orders – Choose Your Army!
March 14, 2022 by brennon
Mantic Games have now started taking pre-orders for the new Firefight Two-Player Starter Set and a selection of the Strike Forces that can be used to get started in this new 28mm Sci-Fi wargame.
Enforcer Strike Force // Mantic Games
If you're interested in diving into Firefight but don't want to go down the route of the Two-Player Starter Set then you might want one of these Strike Force bundles. There are seven of them to pick up, covering all of the main fighting forces available in the expanding Warpath universe.
Whilst there are a bunch of similar options available in these two Strike Forces for the Enforcers and the Marauders, these might be worth snapping up to bulk up the options from the Starter Set.
Marauder Strike Force // Mantic Games
If you want to spread your wings and head beyond the Enforcers and the Marauders then how about checking out the likes of the Forge Fathers? If you like your Space Dwarves, or you just miss your Squats, then this set might be for you.
Forge Father Strike Force // Mantic Games
Each of the sets comes with a whole bunch of core troops and characters for you to get started in Firefight alongside some bigger vehicles too. Both the Forge Fathers and the Asterians have some very impressive vehicles for example!
Asterian Strike Force // Mantic Games
I really like the theme behind the Asterians as an alien race that has been so beleaguered over the decades that they now send robots to do their fighting for them. A neat twist on your traditional Space Elves.
The forces of humanity are also catered for with these Strike Forces as the GCPS have dropped into the fighting. If you wanted to avoid all the big, heavy armour of the Enforcers and liked the idea of playing as the grunts then this is the way to go.
GCPS Strike Force // Mantic Games
You do get some crossover between the different forces sometimes but this gives your standard rank and file troops that keep the galaxy safe. I like that whilst they are your more traditional grunts, they look like they have been kitted out well!
When it comes to watching over the galaxy you want to keep an eye out for the foes beneath your feet! The Veer-Myn are no doubt a constant fiendish threat that the GCPS has to send back into the darkness.
Veer-Myn Strike Force // Mantic Games
Perhaps you want to play out things the other way? Dig up from underground and spread rot and ruin with your force of deadly Veer-Myn troops. I absolutely love the look of the Veer-Myn vehicles which seem like they have been requisitioned from some poor miners.
You could also go totally twisted and consider picking up the Plague Strike Force which comes with a host of fantastic miniatures and abominations for you to have fun with.
Plague Strike Force // Mantic Games
Whilst you might have thought that I would go for the Forge Fathers, I actually think that the Plague Strike Force is the way forward. I think it comes with some absolutely fascinating miniatures that would be really fun to paint, especially if you like the idea of being a bit wild with your colours!
Firefight Two-Player Starter Set
If those Strike Forces don't work for you, or you're just new to Firefight, then you can just snap up the Two-Player Starter Set and dive into that. It comes with everything that you need to get started.
Firefight Two-Player Starter Set // Mantic Games
You get seventy-one miniatures covering the Enforcers and the Marauders which works as a nice starting point. You also get the two core books for Firefight (available separately as well) plus dice and tokens allowing you to get stuck in right away.
So, how are you going to dive into Firefight? Are you going to be picking up the Two-Player Starter Set or exploring Firefight through one of the Strike Forces?

Already ordered, the new orks look like the grunts from Gears of War which sold it for me.
yeah .. those Orks do look cool.
It’s a shame those gobbo weapon teams aren’t in either the strikeforce or the starterset.
I need a while to think .
Despite (MASSIVE) disappointment over the lack of Rebs, I reckon I already have that many plague – I would be surprised if I couldn’t field a plague army with only a single addition (a vehicle of some kind). Not really a fan of the plague having vehicles, to be honest, doesn’t feel thematic. I think they have some nice monstrous type creatures that can easily stand in for the vehicles. I might have to see what I have. I might also have the start of a GCPS army, I certainly have a nice 3D printed tank I could use. https://youtu.be/DZK10OI7wW8… Read more »
The Rebs are all made from the old plastic/resin mix, which is less then stellar these days. Lots of wargamers love to tare down Mantic for using such cheap/inferior material. They are already recieving heat (in GW circles) for having the ripper suits made in the same material. So my assumption is that that is why Rebs arent being brought forward yet. However, if Firefight takes off well enough I would assume the Rebs would be the first new army the introduce. Cause why wouldnt you, they are easily the most diverse and cool army. I would love to see… Read more »
Whilst Mantic have said (in response to Facebook comments if not on an official announcement) that Rebs haven’t been included because they don’t have a supporting range of plastic models, that doesn’t really hold true for v1.0 when most things were restic, resin and metal. Also, I don’t think it would have hurt to include rules for Rebs, even without a supporting range of plastic models for people who have been playing Deadzone for a long time and already have decent sized forces, something they have done in the past with Kings of War. I am not really all that… Read more »
Fab looking new figures an vehicles I may be nabing some of them.
From those Veer-Myn are most interesting to me.
My favourite models and faction. With great theme and few play styles behind the are a full package.
Of those… I like the Enforcer vehicles… especially the little bike things, but as an army I prefer GCPS.
However… I don’t need another box of plastic to sit around not being assembled and painted… so I’ll abstain.
I have built a Veer-myn force right after 2.0 war announced BUT if I were to start them today I would go for army starter. Great unit selection, 750+ points in a box (so basically a FULL army) and a great price. Someone calculated that starters are 31-41% cheaper then the sum of what they consist of.
Maybe the people complaining about GW prices will pivot to this and give it the support it deserves? Probably not. Most of them won’t know there are alternatives.
£90 seems too much. A smaller 2 player starter at around £45 would be worth a punt to try out a new game. At £90 it is quite an investment for something that you might not like.
That sounds like a grand idea and I’d certainly give it a bash.
Bit of late comment from me but I think it’s still on pre-order, I want to try using Forge Fathers so I need to get the starter set for the books and buy a Forge Father strike force so £165 to give it a try?? Which is a bit much.
I thought the Plague were all pink. Like Pepto Bismol.
LOL – I haven’t heard that brand in years.
Mantic have come a long way in quality. I have to say I like all the factions, except maybe for the Veer-myn – something about them doesn’t gel with me very much (except for the tunneller vehicle- that is cool).
I am all over this like lotion on a nasty rash. Bring it on Mantic.
