Let’s Play: Mansions of Madness
October 17, 2016 by deltagamegirl22
The Dames of Games return with the ever frightful Mansions of Madness Second Edition from Fantasy Flight Games.
The Second edition doesn't require a games master but in turn allows the players to follow the story using their mobile devices. Each scenario is random and you will always play a different game when you sit down at the table.
How do you think these intrepid investigators are going to fare about the haunting presence of Cthulhu and his minions?
Solving The Colour/Symbol Puzzle: The puzzle doesn't necessarily require you to use all five glyphs, they can be used multiple times in the sequence. It will give you hints as to what symbols are correct and what colours are correct in the side panel. The rules will state clearly with examples how to solve the puzzle.
Have you played Mansions of Madness; did you succumb to the madness, or were you a victor in the nightmare?

nice cant wait to watch it tonight!
Love that you all dressed up so spectacular…great athmosphere!!!
kicked in the fanny by a hunting horror!
Either you’re not British or something weird happened in that game lol
lol, yep – it’s what one of the girls exclaims after the very first monster attacks around 15minutes into the game! 😉
One of our group just bought this yesterday. Looking forward to getting it on the table 🙂
it looks like you could just skip board game and play it on pc and roll dice, to much is happening on tv screen for me and not enough on table a part from moving models.
The device has no idea where the investigators or monsters are; nor does it know what wounds/horror/equipment etc. people are carrying.
What it will do is react to events (opening doors, investigating tokens), reveal the map and where things are, where monsters spawn and keep track of their wounds.
You can download for free and try it if you like.
I totally agree. I was the first person to be skeptical about the app component, but I have to say, I LOVE it in this instance! It sets the mood so nicely. 😀
@13:10 Sussurus – a fluttery, rustling sound (I think you’re not alone!)
@30:00 You can’t shoot through doors! You needed to move first…
Really liked it. But you missed the obvious pun when several cultist died and no one said, “the cultist has left the building.”
LOL! Damn it! We totally did!
Nice Lets play do like the app in this game it seams to take the hassle of running the monsters of you.
the cosplay brightened my day. Williams shaggy moment was my favourite. monsters and cultists everywhere ” like lets get out of here”
great to see you having fun and getting the giggles.
thanks
Nice play-through I am surprised the master mind puzzle proved so difficult, maybe the app designers should not have taken for granted the master mind rules are well known and put the disclaimer that the legend does not correlate with physical position.
Thanks for that!!! I love puzzles and tried to make that one way too literal apparently. lol
Neat stuff – watched it through and enjoyed it 🙂 Looking forward to some day being able to give this a go myself!
The added dressing up certainly added to the experience too!
This game has always appealed to me but never had a chance to see how it plays. Looking forward to watching this and getting a flavour.
Really enjoy it, the game never really caught my attention until no, thinking about getting this.
Thanks everybody! It’s a great game.
Fun Game! I’m working on mine right now. In the middle of painting them up, I’ve also been adding in 3D doors and walls to pop things up. It really adds more theme to it which I didn’t think was already possible.
I LOVE that idea! Make sure you post pics when you’re done. 😀
Enjoyed the play trough. Getting in to it seems quite an investment though.
Really enjoying this game a lot. It was always a flawed gem with a dreadful setup time during which an error in setup could break the game, and in typical FFG fashion it took 40% of rain forest to set up all those cards to boot. You were also always forced to have one player (me sadly) be the Game Master so to speak. The new version does away with 99% of the issues and allows you to play solo or coop just like Kingdom Death Monster. Thoroughly enjoying it! As for the price, I paid considerably less for the… Read more »
As for the puzzle, pick a single colour, place it 4 times. If you come up all blanks it’s not used. IE’ I pick 4 Greens this gives me 1 success. So I know I need one green. Guess 1 used up. I pick 4 Yellows, and I get one success, I know I need 1 yellow too. Guesses used 2. 4 Blues chosen, I get 2 successes, I’ve used 3 guesses and know I need a green, a Yellow and 2 Blues. I pick 4 reds, all are blank 4 Guesses used. I pick 4 Greys all are blank,… Read more »
Oh, I forgot to add I didn’t need to pick the greys and reds just to show they aren’t used, it’s a 4 answer puzzle and before using those 2 guesses I knew already which 4 colours I needed, I just did that step for completion.
Don’t know what was more horrifying, the game or the cosplay. 😉
Also, get one of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastermind_(board_game)
And start practicing.
I played this forever with my grandparents when I was a kid.
