Wyrd’s Mass Battler, The Other Side, Enters Final Days On Kickstarter
January 19, 2017 by deltagamegirl22
Wyrd Games' mass battle game, The Other Side, has entered it's final days on Kickstarter. But don't worry, there's still time to get in on this epic game that explores the world on The Other Side of the Breach.
We've all come to know the tales of Malifaux, but there's been plenty going on The Other Side.
The game runs off of Wyrd's fantastic Fate Deck mechanic, which allows players the chance to cheat fate and ultimately have a bit more control over their outcomes than a simple, luck of the roll. In The Other Side, players will field sides with thirty to forty-five miniatures, that look every bit as amazing as the one's we've come to expect from Malifaux.
The models will still be 32mm, but are preassembled - so it's never been easier to get into the game with beautiful, highly detailed miniatures! Gameplay is focused on cinematic combat, focusing on exciting game effects rather than debilitating status conditions. Units can go to Glory, heightening their combat potential, and players can take advantage of Stratagems to impact the battlefield in significant ways.
The pledge levels offer a tremendous amount of value with their high model count and the inclusion of a rulebook - so what are you waiting for? You know you're curious.
...if these kinds of creatures haven't caught your attention by now then make sure to dive in and find out more!
Will you be exploring the Other Side?

I am out for backing kickstarters due to Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 but has anyone else backed this? I never got around to playing Malifaux and I wondered if Malifaux players are backing this or if more people new to Wyrd Games are backing it.
As a Malifaux fan I was wildly excited when Wyrd first announced this. Then I found out it would be a KS and was much less excited. And now the more I look the less enthusiastic I become I’m afraid. I think beyond the KS there a couple of major sticking points for me. Firstly the Gargantuans look like action figures to my eyes – not that I’ve got anything against that, it’s just that they jar against Wyrd’s typically dynamic poses. Secondly I’ve heard that it will be alternating activations, which I’m pretty sure the majority of players will… Read more »
Looks interesting but being in Australia once I convert the US to AUS and add in shipping it turns into one pricey game and that is coming from someone that buys Lots of GW stuff. 🙂
I think the major selling point for me is that it takes elements established in games i.e. conditions and status effects but simplifies them. Also I think the glory mechanic is really interesting and would like to see how it works out on the battlefield.
It sorta sucks because this is sandwiched between KDM and Rising Sun.
I like the look of it but I am not looking to do mass battle, huge models or boards larger than 4×4 because that is the largest I can fit in my house. I just don’t think it is a practical game for me sadly.
I got very excited about this, but pulled out. I love Malifaux, in fact I adore Malifaux, but I fear that taking what is quite a complicated system (but tolerably so for a handful of minis) and scaling it up to a larger table and larger figure count will become clunky.
I hope I’m wrong, I hope it’s a dazzling success, but £160 straight after Christmas is a too big gamble for me.
it’s not the Malifaux system…all it shares is the card mechanic and universe.
there are exactly five types of tokens and 2 of them cancel each other out (meaning you will not have a battle littered with confusing tokens).
they have several Vassal battle reports that show how smooth the game is.
I am in for $160 and it looks like I am getting at least $300 worth of product.
I really hope you and all the other backers have a great time, and that it’s a great game.
the beasts look great.
I have backed this as I do like the Malifaux world but still haven’t chosen a faction. It is a slightly different feel than Malifaux and if you are a Malifaux gamer who is disappointed I can understand your point of view. But I do like the look of it and decided to give it a go
I love the look of the models but this could be a tad pricey for me. I have backed, but only like a dollar, so if I do expand it, I’ll be careful what I choose. Personally love the baddy factions with the burning man cult and cthulhu dudes.
