Wyrd Offers a Glimpse At The Other Side Of The Breach
August 5, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
Do you play Malifaux? Have you ever found yourself wondering what the world looks like on the other side of the breach, opposite Malifaux? In my interview with Aaron from Wyrd, he mentioned that Wyrd Games was going to be launching a new miniature game!
The Other Side will be a miniature game that features existence on the other side of the breach. We don't know much more than this as of yet, but we do know that the game will be its own system, functioning independently and NOT compatible with Malifaux.
Are you curious about the wold on The Other Side?

Consider my interest piqued. I’ve long admired the look of Malifaux’s minis but the game and setting didn’t appeal.
Just speculation but could this be a mass battle game? It would make sense for Wyrd to try increasing their sales by releasing a game with a higher model count.
I believe they’ve said the “armies” will be similar in size to those you find in Warmachine armies (whatever that means).
Malifaux crews tend to cap out at 10, so I’d guess this new lot will probably be a few units, a few solos and the odd big thing.
They can be anywhere between around 20-50 minis, though the smaller armies tend to have more large models. It’s probably not a smart idea to make the same sort of game as Malifaux as one will likely end up devouring the other. Ideally what you’d want is to hook an entirely new audience not already playing Malifaux.
I like malifauxes minis but the system never really hooked .. looking fwd to seeing what wyrd stuff comes for this
Well I’m on the hook to find our more for sure. Not enough info to be overly excited and committed yet, but to be honest I’d rather that than find out too much too early and have to wait ages.
I will reach out to Aaron to see if there’s anything more to say on this project. 🙂
This is a really cool idea. They hint at things in the fluff about the other side. Some of the factions in the new game will likely be similar but you probably won’t see neverborn. It will be really interesting to see what they come up with model wise. I can see them creating a game that has the 10-50 model count. Still skirmish but with some 5-10 model units.
It states on the web page the two systems will not be compatible.
I wasn’t stating that they would be compatible. That makes sense in fact as much of the changes that over come people in Malifaux are specific to that side of the breach. But it is the same universe so while the two games may not be compatible we do know that at the very least the Guild, Arcanists and Ten Thunders exist on both sides of the breach.
Dunno much about Malifaux, but I see a giant robot, guns, and missle contrails in the background. Im interested!
Very excited about this.
Gribbly buggers on the left look great and who doesn’t love steampunk robots?
Definitely curious to see more. While Malifaux isn’t a game I’d probably get into – I have a great amount fo respect and admiration for it and I am impressed by Wyrd’s imagination as well as the fact it’s all plastic they make these days too so maybe this one might be more for me.
It’s FISHMEN! What more do I need to say? Nothing, absolutely nothing.

What did I just watch?
I’m certainly going to keep my eyes on this,I like the malifaux miniatures and the setting, but the card based system is not really my cup of tea. Hopefully this new project uses some good old d6’s or d20’s!
