Wyrd Games Shows Off Their Seven New Malifaux Crew Boxes
July 19, 2016 by deltagamegirl22
If we haven't said it enough previously, the Wyrd Games vendor space at Gen Con is AWESOME. And after seeing today's preview of all seven new crew boxes.
I'm thinking I'll be spending a great deal of time (and money!) with them at the show.
We've been having a look at the new Masters for each crew over the recent weeks, but now it's time to see who'll be joining them. I cannot wait to pick their brains about the crews and find out more about each one, but until then, have a look and see if there's any must haves in here for you.
They have some amazing boxes to choose from here. I really like the last one above, the Beacon of Knowledge. Look at those awesome models and that Djinn-like creature!
Which of these new crews is your favorite?

Love the Sky Pirates but those legs are going to be so damn fragile
Those are looking great. Maybe it’s time for me to start Malifaux when those come out.
A lot of solid releases. Dont even know where to start witih explaining how I like them all so much…
Beacon of Knowledge and Return of the Queen… Not only were these miniatures made for me, but the titles as well ! 😀
They both look amazing, along with the wild ones knightmare box means wyrd have been gifted my salary 😉
Loving the look of the Queen box but feeling nervous about some of the spindly little pieces on them!
I’m loving the “The Pen is Mightier” and “The Queen’s Return” crews. I’d like the “A Fistful of Scrip” box too if only the models matched the artwork a little more. Still, Wyrd miniatures is doing very well out of me.. I will soon have 8 crews for a game I don’t even play 😀
The pen is mightier is great, I think i may have to brush off my guild and get playing again
All great, but LOVE the Sky Pirates and Beacon of Knowledge
All my money is going to Malifaux this year. Not complaining. It’s money well spent.
4 new boxes; Guild, Gremlins, Neverborn, Outcasts between my wife and me. New book and Nightmare box. Plus old stuff on our wishlist.
Are these some kind of starting boxes? Got intrigued by Malifaux some time ago but I didn’t find an entry point. One of these could be it…
Yes crew boxes are so toy say one player starterboxes, in each you got one crew from one of the factions.
If you are looking for a two player starter set, this is what you want:

The 2 player starter box is great. Everything you need to start. Very well written and put together,
They are Crew boxes, which are basically starting gangs. They come with models and stat cards, but the rulebook (there’s a mini version and a full version) and card deck you need to play are separate.
The Sky Pirates, The Pen and The Queen draw my attention, all for different reasons.
Crew boxes are great starting points for Malifaux. The rules are online for free on Drivethrurpg.com, and you’ll need a deck of playing cards. Beyond a crew box, you’ll want to get a few other bits and bobs to get up to tournament level. I recommend checking out https://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/ for more info on picking a crew and getting started…though these Masters won’t be up there yet, as their book, Ripples of Fate, isn’t out until Gencon.
Seems like these won’t be out in the UK General Retail for about 6 months.
Wyrd will be providing a price list for special GenCon orders (similar to their Black Friday Sale) including these and the new McCabe set plus some special model offers… tomorrow… with order window closing first week in August – should be here a few weeks after that.
grab a few mates and sort out an order… don’t forget you’ll probably be paying VAT on them when the arrive too – plus the $/£ exchange rate isn;t that great.
Fine, you want me to get all seven then I will. Happy? Heh 😛
p.s. I am 🙂
Lol! @machination Me too!
It took me a long while to ‘get’ the aesthetic of this game, but these days i think it’s fantastic.
I’ve never played the game, though hope one day to rectify that. I’ve got a few of the minis though, and would absolutely love most of these!
