Wyrd Games Detail What’s New For Malifaux 3rd Edition

Wyrd Games has been detailing what's new for Malifaux 3rd Edition. It's interesting to see them continuing to iterate on this game which many would consider one of the most unique out there.
Here is more or less the skinny on what you're going to experience when the new edition hits.
- A New Coat of Paint: New art, new cards, and new models. Don't worry, the models you currently own will still look just as good on the table now as they did before, and now they'll have gorgeous, updated cards (with easier to read text) beside them.
- An Enhanced (and not so Desolate) Engine: The core of Malifaux hasn't been replaced; it's been optimized. Those strange quirks and questions that wrinkled our encounters have been ironed out for a more streamlined game experience without cutting away the layers of strategic decision-making we've all grown to love.
- Gameplay Firing on All Cylinders: With adjusted Deployment Zones, increased threat ranges, and more mobility options, your models will be getting into the action nearly as quickly as you can put them onto the table.
- Lightening the Load: Ever eat one too many slices of cake and get that satisfied-but-bloated feeling? Well, we want our cake and will eat it, too. In addition to reducing the number of Conditions, we also cut down on the excess of Actions, Abilities, and Triggers to make sure the focus is on the fun and not on the memorization.
- Treading New Territory Together: Don't fear the unknown - become a part of the change! We are making Third Edition alongside you. Join the Closed Beta playtest so that you can make a positive impact on Malifaux. This is your game as much as it is ours.
- A Fully Fueled Release: All model stat cards will be updated and available as soon as Malifaux Third Edition is at your local game store. There won't be any waiting for cards to come in waves.
- An Accessible Rules Manual: M3E's rules and stat cards will be released online for free at release. The rules and stat cards will also be translated in seven languages at release as well: English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, and Spanish.
It's nice to know that what makes Malifaux 'Malifaux' has been retained within this game and a lot of what is being done here is meant to enhance the experience rather than change it completely.
Some of the other key elements of the changing focus in on the addition of New Masters alongside some old ones like Rasputina above. You will also find that the number of Conditions has been whittled down to something more manageable and there is more focus on thematic forces and earning a benefit for that.
You will see that the cards now have a wonderful graphic design to them which seems FAR easier to read that the old ones and shows off the artwork beautifully. If you want to find out more about how the Masters are going to work for the various factions you can delve deeper into their release information HERE.

Those look really good. Joey Berry might be happy about that new Rasputina.
I dont think she has updated her site in a while, which is a shame, but she has been busy.
As the replacement rules and cards are going to be free, then yes I probably will. I played a reasonable amount of 1E, but when 2E came around I bought the rulebook but didn’t enjoy it as much and stopped playing. If the new rules are more fun then I may pick it up again. I’m unlikely to buy any more models (preferred the old metals to the newer, excessively fiddly plastic ones) and there is no way I’d pay for new rules (not worth the risk: I’d rather use the money to try out a completely new game, of… Read more »
M2E was… is a great game! Over the waves the sheer volume of variety of models and playstyles, supported by specific character actions and conditions, has both led to an enriched game environment/system but also a complex one difficult to keep on top of all that variety (the ‘memorization(sic)’ issue mentioned by Wyrd).
Looking forward to being able to get my head around the new edition and to reinvigorate a few old crews that maybe haven’t been in vogue for a while now. Expecting everything to land fairly re-balanced.
The figure’s will be stunning if as good as the renders.
If there’s one criticism that can be levelled at Wyrd’s plastics, it’s not that they look nothing like the renders! It’s that they’re very fiddly! They usually look spot on like both render and artwork. They’re gorgeous models.
I just started getting into malifaux so this is good timing, new game new edition!
Rasputina looks good as does the order initiate. I have a fledgling Arcanists warband and I am keen to see where this new edition goes. Exciting News
Malifaux has been itching away at the back of my brain for a while now.
3rd Ed. may get me scratching.
Looking forward to the new figure releases, the bar is already high.
Wyrd’s minis are too fiddly for my taste, but they do look beautiful.
