Rocket Arrows & Tree Knights For Malifaux & The Other Side
May 26, 2022 by fcostin
Wyrd has been busy previewing some models for not just one game system, but two. Due to the recent crossover between Malifaux and The Other Side, when a new character approaches - they can serve more than a purpose across different mediums through the breach and earthside.
Hex Bows // The Other Side & Malifaux // Wyrd
First to be showcased last week was the Hex Bows, cursed to their very core and equipped with missile bows or as I like to refer to them - a manual RPG. Keen on leaving chaos in the wake of destruction where the projectile lands, afflicting more than bad luck to the receiving end.
Hex Bows Card Preview //The Other Side
If you are keen on flexing these bad boy hot pocket archers into a game of The Other Side, you can expect versatility from the explosive range, with a chance to select Piercing, Accurate, or Area when firing.
Bleeding some bad luck into Malifaux, these cursed archers will have the chance to completely affect the fate of an opponent. Standing taller for deployment from The Guild, keen on clearing the battlefield ahead with arrow-propelled grenades. A modern take on an explosive arrow, they must be pretty careful carrying these in their quiver!
Yaksha // Malifaux and The Other Side // Wyrd
The second set of characters approaching Earth's battlefields and Malifaux which Wyrd have teased this week is the Yaksha, naturalistic spirits keen on claiming a corporeal body to journey through the living world.
Yaksha Card Preview // The Other Side
As these ghostly inhabitants have locked onto some natural elements, taking root within the likes of bark and moss as shells and meatsuits for battle - you can sure bet that they play well with terrain.
"Yaksha can move their target via the Draw In Trigger, helping make contact with as much terrain as possible. This creates new problems for opponents, as they must contend with unexpected movements and new sources of damage." - Wyrd
Yaksha Card Preview // Malifaux
Breaking free of The Court Of Two and gaining more free will in the world of Malifaux, teaming up with the Explorer's Society - the Yaksha blends well to the environement, Rooting and becoming uneffected by Severe Terrain due to its' spiritual nature.
The Yaksha and Hex Bows look like wonderful additions to either game. Both bringing new ideas to the table which can certainly bring more diversity to crews. I shall be looking forward to seeing the sculpts!
What do you think of the new characters heading to Malifaux and The Other Side?

I do like a good treeman…
I see fiddly bits in these Robin Hood wannabes. December Acolytes were one thing, then came The Ten Thunder archers and now these guys. Yan Lo’s beard was their first lesson in teaching people about their sculpts.
Treemen like those take lessons from other sculpts as well. Crossing poses from undead and Ten Thunder you can see where the dynamism came from. Hypothetically connect these with Lilith in terms of fluff (no idea on gameplay dynamics).
