Take A Look Ahead To Malifaux In March With Wyrd Games
January 24, 2017 by brennon
Peering into the future of Malifaux the folks at Wyrd Games previewed what lies ahead for the various factions during March. Take a look and see if any of these models will make it into your plans for the future...
Leading the way we have this new set, The Queen's Return, which is packed with all manner of strange and creepy characters that nowadays seem to fit in nicely with the world of Malifaux. Imagine if this was a commonplace sight as you were walking down the street!?
I particularly like the work that has gone into the natural feel of Titania and The Claw.
Following on from them we have the equally strange and eerie Terracotta Warriors. These slumbering warriors might look ponderous but I'm sure they pack quite the punch when fighting against those who threaten their master.
I think if you were painting these up you would have to add a bit of moss to them as you see in the art to show their age.
In keeping with the theme of the weird and the wonderful we also have the Goryo here who is a spirit-laced swordsman. It truly is rather special seeing what Wyrd can do with plastic and suddenly you understand why there are so many little pieces involved!
This model would look fantastic with some airbrushing and a dab of source lighting here and there to show the shades glow as they stream from behind that mask.
Looking to the more human side of Malifaux we have the admittedly rather plain looking Mounted Guard here for the Guild. It's neat to see Wyrd continuing to produce both male and female miniatures for their warbands, even in the rank and file, to offer up some nice choices for gamers.
While we mention female miniatures there's also two more sets to keep an eye out for. First up we have Allison Dade who appears to be keeping tabs on everything going on in town. While once again quite a simple miniature it gives you an opportunity to work on pulling out all of those details.
She might indeed be the one leading these ladies, the Field Reporters.
If you liked the look of The Pen Is Mightier, coming out in February, then you might want to consider some more field Reporters to help you in your endeavours.
Has anything caught your eye from the March selection?

don’t play this game but the figures look great.
Wyrd really do produce some nice models.
Very nice as usual. Will be picking up Titania’s crew for sure. Month with no Gremlins makes me sad (and my wallet happy).
Like the look of these…..Still trying to decide on faction … at the moment I am not guild and not outcast (because i don’t really get what they are about except that they don’t fit anywhere else) So of the models of the factions still in the running are looking good and don’t help at all….and to be fair so do the guild … but nah
The Mounted Guards have an interesting story attached to them. They were released at GenCon, but had scale issues and ended up being much smaller than other mounted models.
Ultimately Wyrd pulled the models from the production schedule to re-size them, and then told anyone who had bought the models, that Wyrd would replace them free of charge.
That is good news. It is about time Wyrd did that as they have had scale issues like that in the past (like that giant guy being thrown by the flesh golem).
The mounted guard looks really cool, so does Allison Dade! A sensible looking female character!
I keep looking at Titania for my second Master, would be a challenge to paint though!
No Arcanists but I want most of those models. Gah!
I am glad to see the mounted guard coming up soon. Excellent rules and they will be swell with McCabe. I hope to see Parker announced for April as well. If it is like book 3 at all we will probably see stuff from book 5 come out at the same time book 4 stuff does.
Also the Terracotta Warriors are meant to absorb damage by parking themselves next to the Hungering Darkness or something, not deal it. I get that the article wasn’t necessarily written by someone who plays the game but it is still irksome.
