Get Funky With Malifaux’s Nightmare Edition 1988
July 9, 2020 by brennon
Wyrd Games has been looking to get set up for their Gen Con Sale. The big Nightmare Edition set for this year is a little retro but a little futuristic too. This new set for Malifaux 1988 shows off an alternative take on the deadly Mei Feng crew.

The set comes with alternative options for not just their leader, Mei Fend as Gumdrop but also a selection of characters who are fighting alongside her. Rail Workers, Forgelings and Kang have all been tweaked to match this somewhat Cyberpunk/80s style of character. It certainly looks cool as the future version of Malifaux.
As well as showing off the concept art above, the team at Wyrd Games also revealed some renders for how the miniatures will turn out too. They are looking very cool indeed and I think it would be brilliant to see just how fancy people get with their paint schemes for this collection.

This set is going to be available soon so make sure to check their webstore every so often in order to see when it goes live. I think this particular set is going to be very sought after. In terms of additional previews, we did also get a look at Gumdrop's statistics cards.

Could you see yourself snapping up this alternative crew for use in your games? I love that even the card has been given an update and comes in a new almost Cyberpunk style. This is a neat way to play with the aesthetic of Malifaux and offer up something fun and new for hobbyists and gamers.
I expect plenty of Jubilee-esque looking outfits with a clash of pink and yellow!

TBH: when I read 1988 I expected something different. This looks way to anime for my taste.
Nice love the guy with the mohican and persuasion bar.
Oh wow. I have the regular Mei Feng crew. Will try get one of these
This is a seriously bizarre concept for an alt-crew, but I do have to admit I like it. Does make me wonder what exactly what Malifaux would look like one hundred years in the future, given everything going on its setting.
An entire Mailfaux 1988? I’d be all over that!
I could be interested in these as Cyberpunk figures….
….if Cyberpunk Red is ever released!
Fantastic and very, very, out there concept for Malifaux. Would be weird turning up to a game of nightmarish gothic horrors and having your opponent drop them down opposite.
There’s some odd stuff is in Malifaux already, but, y’know.
Finished playing a very long TTB campaign a while back, absolutely loved it. Thought at that time it would be nice to have done a sequel campaign for the descendants of the characters but set in like Malifaux 1980’s or 1990’s. Ton of cool story and visual concepts that could work for it, and these models are just a great example of that idea!
