Malifaux Comes To A Crossroads
July 18, 2014 by dracs
The story of Malifaux looks as though it will soon be moving in to its next chapter as the new source book Malifaux 2nd Ed. Crossroads makes its long awaited appearance.
One of the things that really draws me into Malifaux is its developing story line and strong sense of character. I believe that this new book will bring with it all the rules for the wave 2 releases, as well as advancing the story for each of the Masters and henchmen who wander this strange world.
I have been really looking forward to the release of the next Malifaux source book and I don't think this one is going to disappoint, given that it apparently 320 pages to read. There is speculation that it might appear at GenCon. I can only hope.
If this wasn't enough to get you excited, another awesome piece of concept art has appeared on Twitter.
This rider is, of course, a member of the Arcanist faction, melding the magic of Malifaux with ingenious machinery. It's an interesting sculpt, which in many ways seems to embody the style of the Arcanists. I can't wait to find out what her story is.
Are you excited to be journeying in Malifaux once again?

I’ve lost track of who is in Wave 2 but I’m hoping to see Kaeris, Colette or Ironsides in the next book.. and of course, I can’t wait to see the models for those M2E crews too 🙂
The new Colette model will basically determine whether or not I try to get into this game. Hope it’s good, because her play style of magic teleporting and sneaky tricks is exactly my bag.
Yeah, likewise. I picked up the Kaeris crew with the intention of getting the Showgirls box so that the former could run as a henchwoman for the latter.. but then I found out about M2E so I decided to hold off on buying any more of the original metal crews. As long as Colette is awesome (for me) and Ironsides is awesome (for my wife) I’ll actually have someone to play Malifaux against!
Pretty confident both will be in there. Pretty excited about ironsides myself.
From my experience with the plastic models from this line I have yet to come across one that disappoints me. I would go so far as to say they make the best plastic miniatures on the market, even rivaling Kingdom Death plastics.
I’m not a fan of the new plastics. They’re technically correct in every aspect (a few minor issues aside), but they’re that- correct. They’re not, pardon the pun, wyrd. Ultrarealistic just doesn’t work for a world of arcane horror and adventure, imo at least. I’ll be sticking to metal for as long as I can despite it’s flaws.
The plastics are a great way forward IMHO the contact points on the metal were so small sometimes that you could never pin the model, relying on cow spit and hope.
D.
A lot to be released at Gencon this year for some of the big games, can’t wait.
Credit card may take a battering!
Only a month to go but how long until they find their ways to our shores
