See What May Brings To The Wyrd World Of Malifaux
April 11, 2017 by brennon
May brings a new set of fantastic miniatures to the world of Malifaux which just continues to grow. There seems to be a theme of wild transformation about this coming month too from Wyrd so let's dive in.
Leading the way we have these rather epic looking individuals from The Mercy Of Death. One of the things I love about Malifaux is how they blend the Fantasy with the Steampunk and it's always great to see loads of blades, shields, and awesome melee options.
You have to love anything that says it has corpse candles too right? If you want to expand on this collection then you can also get more Shieldbearers (or at them to a different gang).
Once again, an awesome look and style to these miniatures. It would have been cool if they had a slightly different design to them I feel to set them apart from the ones in the box but maybe you could fix it with some head-swaps or alternative colour schemes.
Wild Beasts
Now we turn to the wild and the hairy with the likes of the Rougarou coming to Malifaux.
Based on the theme of a Werewolf this is a beast, or set of beasts, that roam the Deep South of America. Cajun folklore believed that they would hunt down and kill Catholics! In Malifaux it looks like they've gone down the route of making them a little more bestial but it still ties them into the Bayou-style feel of Malifaux.
These fellows however really have turned. Meet the Swine-Cursed!
Now those are some awesome looking bruisers to add into the mix for your Gremlin gangs on the tabletop. Werepig might not be quite as dangerous-sounding as a Werewolf but they look like they'd rip you up all the same.
What do you think of what May has to offer?

Is it true that you glue Malifaux minis together with your tears?
No, but the joyous weeping will probably get on your minis at some point. 😉
The irony is that your tears dissolve the glue bonds, perpetuating the struggle. 😉
Pretty much. The models look great after gluing, but the breakdown of the kits on the sprue has to be the work of a pure sadist.
Yes 🙁 . So much so, i shut them in a draw and haven’t looked at them since. Beautiful mini’s, but they are number 1 on my s#%* list for having tiny, tiny parts that my clumsy paws can’t deal with and retain my sanity.
the swine look great.
Malifaux is doing some very nice stuff lately. I have got 2E rules and really like the look of the game …but can’t decide on a Faction…. That first set isn’t helping as I had already decided against the Reserectionists but that kit looks soooo good …. bugger
Avoid summoning masters for your first crew seems sound advice. They work best when you have a decent selection of models to draw from.
Cheers Thanks for that 🙂
All the 4th wave crews are very nice, but I wouldn’t recommend for beginners as some of the synergies you need to play with them make them a difficult first crew. The common theme across 4th wave is fancy scheme marker trickery. They’ve been Errata’ing a number of the early crew masters and other crew members recently to rebalance the game; overall some of their crew synergies are simpler for beginners. As a result some of the crews from the first two books that experienced tournment players tended to drop have come back into fashion, especially when some of the… Read more »
Okay … So I should look carefully at the first two waves when picking my first crew and see if there is something there that appeals. Again, thank you very much for the advice . Cheers
Been waiting for the Rougarou for a while now… although their monthly releases over here generally mean the last week in the month…
It’s because of this I end up with many crews.
I’ve tried to constrain myself by the rule “stick to crews/models from factions you already have”… initially that worked with Guild and Neverborn…
But then dual faction crews and freebie special models meant I had something from every faction!
Need a better rule!
