Bad Omens & Iconic Moments For Malifaux In October
October 14, 2024 by brennon
October is upon us and that means more releases for Malifaux by Wyrd Games. There are some new miniatures for the Ten Thunders and the Outcasts as well as an Iconic miniature set for painters and eager Malifaux fans to get their hands on.
The Bad Omen // Malifaux
As you might imagine, The Bad Omen follows you around and hunts you to the ends of the earth. Even when you kill The Bad Omen, the omen follows it. What's even funkier is that The Bad Omen also throws out penalties for using Soulstones nearby and if you strike him, you also take damage in response.
The Bad Omen - Miniature // Malifaux
I think it helps that The Bad Omen is also a gorgeous miniature. I like the ethereal "white wolf" look of the miniature and it would be neat to see someone paint him in slightly more ghostly colours. You could do some fun things with a spectral glow on this fellow.
Moving over to the Ten Thunders, you can call on another prowling character. See what you make of Zheng.
Zheng // Malifaux
You can use Zheng in combination with your other characters to exploit their weaknesses and bring them down through combined attacks. The Savage Bite is a good attack with multiple uses and the Intimidating Roar is good for positioning your enemies where you want them and slowing them down for others to clobber them.
Zheng Miniature // Malifaux
Because Zheng is a construct, you can have some real fun painting him up with some fairly simple techniques. A good bit of drybrushing and plenty of washes could make the miniature pop. Add a bit of a glow into the cracks and you'd have a stunning miniature.
The Last Dance
As well as the two miniatures above, you can also get the Iconic set for this month, The Last Dance.
Iconic - The Last Dance // Malifaux
The Last Dance shows a doomed scene as Seamus brings a new Belle into his clutches. As with previous iconic boxes, this set contains Seamus and his undead dance partner with a massive miniature, perfect for painters and collectors.
Iconic - The Last Dance Miniature // Malifaux
As well as the 118.5mm miniature, you will also get a Malifaux-scale miniature which can be used as a playable version of the character in-game. The smaller miniature is preassembled so you just pop it out of the box and away you go. You will also get a statistics card for Seamus included in the box.
Could you be tempted to pick up some of these October miniatures?

Always cool looking minis, no idea how the game works, but interested in getting some to paint!
It’s a really interesting game, card based with hand manipulation. The real depth of the game is that you choose your warband at the table in response to what your opponent and the scenario. Knowing how the other masters play and the posse’s synergies is key to the game.
Interesting sounding dynamics; my big local shop has a lot of Malifaux, next time I’m there, I’ll look closer 👍
Lovely big beasts and that Last Dance diorama piece would look great under the brush of a decent painter.
Last Dance really would have been a more impactful piece if Seamus were posed with Molly Squidpidge but the fluff is as it is. The collector’s piece is as rightfully damn twisted as the character and would be great to see painted.
