Gatecrash at Tabletop Nation
January 30, 2013 by stuart
As you will have seen from Sam's great article about the Gatecrash pre-release, we have a brilliant expansion for Magic: The Gathering out now.
Here at Tabletop Nation we were rudely awoken from our Smaug-like slumbers by a dirty great transport filled to the gunnels with booster boxes! Our warehouse gang (acquired at great risk from the underhives of Necromunda) quickly set about unloading this wall of red boxes. In the time that it took for us to arrange a tasteful display like this:
However such dreams of a simple artistic display were quashed as the table behind us had already begun to fill up like this!
So with our stock now having arrived ready for the release on Friday, what better time to let people know about what we have to offer for Magic fans at Tabletop Nation. We have our regular Friday Night Magic sessions, of course, but now we will be running our Gatecrash Launch League starting this Saturday. We are also running the Gatecrash Game Day on 23rd February with some great prizes up for grabs so now is the time to get familiar with what Gatecrash has to offer and start building those decks.
Finally we have a strictly limited number of the exclusive promotional card "Nightveil Specter" for anyone who pops into Tabletop Nation and purchases a booster box. Grab them while you get the chance as this card with alternate artwork is sure to be a highly desirable collectors item.

Sorry I can’t make it , but won’t be going to order from Wayland.
Got my Boros starter at the weekend from my neighbour Janco Toys! 😀
Have to support the local guys even if it means missing out on the discount! 😉
Good luck on Saturday Stu and for the 23rd Feb.
Hope you have a truck load of fun!
Quite right too. If you have the luxury of a friendly local store, go give them support! You may end up paying nearly £20 more per box, but I’m sure most of us get far more than £20 worth of love out of our local gaming centres and without loyal patronage they’d close pretty quick!
They also sell Airfix so it is doubly necessary to want them to thrive!
My bank manager begs to differ lol
I’ve never played it so I wouldn’t mind watching some vids on this to see what all the fuss is about.
You’ve not played Magic the Gathering? If you want to learn how to play, then your best bet is to download the demo for Magic the Gathering, Duels of the Planeswalkers http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Summoner/ You should be able to get a demo for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC via steam. It pretty much includes a step by step guide with regards to how to play the game, and gives you a few fixed decks and AI opponents to play against. If you end up interested in playing the game, I’d recommend you find your local gamestore that sells Magic stuff http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Default.aspx is… Read more »
@fleetey Thanks for the info, most appreciated. I’d hate to miss out.
Someone fly me over there! I’m just back from playing Magic at the local gaming society. I am loving Orzhov, but still need some cards so you can expect me to be ordering a bunch of boosters next time my pay comes through. I need that Obzedat Ghost Council!
You know what, to save time just pay me in boosters this month.
Oh dear Sam, this IS worrying.
We need to get you on a program, and I don’t mean On-The-Table. 😛
Is Sam paid? I thought that he just did it for the reflected glory of sitting next to Darrell !
Nah It’s compensation.
We only see Darrell’s upper half respectably clad in a shirt.
Under the table Darrell is only wearing his man nappy.
Poor Sam. That HAS to be worth a lot of booster packs to offset the trauma! lol
We’d love to have Sam here! I wonder if you’d manage travelling by freight?
Sure, I just have to go in the part of the hold where they keep pets
Had a game with my Boros deck and it suffered badly. My deck hates me.
It was at the library after school club and one of the lads has several decks of evil.
Anyways, a year 5/6 girl was watching and she borrowed the deck and won! lol
It was against a less powerful deck (my excuse and sticking to it!)
Boros plays well if you can get 3+ creatures on with buffs. Has a good tactical feel to it.
My gaming is basically down to my friends I’ve got 3 really close friends, that I’ve known for 15+ years now. Met them at school through playing 40k / Nercomunda / Blood Bowl etc. We went our separate ways when it came to Univ., but still kept in touch with each other. We ultimately all got back together and 3 of us live in the same city (with the other living in London which isn’t far to get to) and more or less try to meet up and play at the weekend , whether it be magic or another game… Read more »
