Lake-Town Heroes & Armoured Goblins On The Way For The Hobbit
March 3, 2018 by brennon
Games Workshop previewed some new models for The Hobbit in their round-up on the Grand Tournament that happened last weekend. The first reveal was a pair of heroes from Lake-town.
Here we have Hilda-Bianca and Percy who look absolutely fantastic. They will be up for pre-order soon and really are a step in the right direction for the sculptors. Something about some of their existing characters has seemed a bit off, usually in the facial expressions, but these look superb.
Suddenly I've found a Warrior/Warden/Wanderer combination of models for use in Adventures In Middle-earth.
Goblin Foes
As well as friends and allies from Lake-town there are also the dangerous foes that were bought into the service of Azog The Defiler. Here we have some of their Goblin Mercenaries.
These scampering warriors are more armoured their Goblin-town brothers and will come as a full unit kit and a captain, whom you can see at the back.
Are you a big Hobbit & Lord of the Rings fan?

Two human characters are really nice but those goblins are also good.
Really nice set of releases but the two Lake Town people are really something special. Understated, but heroic in the way that quite a few characters from Middle Earth are: not big, not obvious, not ‘special’, but brave and standing up for their friends, families and homes.
These look really nice . GWs middle earth minis are what got me back into the hobby after a long hiatis. I am looking forward to adding these to my collection (particularly the goblins)
I love anything Tolkien, just wish I had the skills to paint and do these minis justice.
Fabulous looking new figures especially the goblins.
wait, did you just say adventures in middle earth? i thought i saw them in shot with your D&D on your painting thread. absolutely made up you’ve taken the plunge Ben my friend. just too good and too beautiful to ignore. technically not a new system of course , just a D&D setting.
couldn’t agree more with your take on the miniature.
Hilda and Percy are marvellous, more like that please Mr GW sir.
They look great! A shame we’re almost done with all the scenarios for these already!
they look really nice, perhaps a good momment to return to my old lotr armies… a great game I hope to return soon 🙂
Fantastic sculpts, not been grabbing hobbit minis as I like to play scenarios and through a book, as a low priority game cannot justify cost without plastic minis. However those goblins would be a nice addition to my goblin town (and goblins/orcs are the best fantasy race) time to do a few more bases
Pre-emptively @beardragon14 it’s not Dwarves, although they are far superior to elves. I quote ‘The only thing better than a dead dwarf is a dying dwarf that tells you were to find his mates’ internet points for the source
@dags it’s okay mate I understand your affliction …. at least you are right thinking about elves
you are of coarse both wrong. Luthien tinuviel more fair than mortal hearts can tell.
orcs are ruined elves and dwarves are a child’s attempt at copying his fathers work.
@beardragon14 it the common ground we should focus on
@emptynessisform going need more than a bit of elf propoganda to support that view chap 🙂
@emptynessisform Get your imediate family to call your emergency phone number straight away!!! You are obviously delusional and are in urgent need of medical attention. Poor b@$tard 😀
Oh and Dwarfs were first, they may have been put back to sleep but they were first 🙂
🙂
Sounds like a Morglum Necksnapper quote/
@wesadie1969 and we have a winner, have my allocation of weekly interweb points.
I love that orc (yes it is an affliction)
Morglum is great but I was always a Grimgor fan.
I prefered the slightly more cunning to the brute force of Grimgor, plus the affonity back to his wfrp roots
What scale are these minis in? They look cool!
25mm @darctos although the hobbit stuff has gotten a little lose with that from the original LoTR stuff
Lovely stuff there! Hopefully, these will be released in time for my birthday in the summer!
Nice, but I’ll be filling my goblin ranks with Northstar models. Nothing Forge World is ever in my financial comfort zone, and the North Star aesthetic is fabulous.
Completely fair point, but I am more why not both when it comes to goblins
Nice looking miniatures for Laketown. But i really dislike the goblins. For me they look strangely like kitbashed.
