The GBHL Team Put Together Lord Of The Rings Themed SBG Issue #2
June 4, 2015 by brennon
Two members of the GBHL Podcast team have done it once again. The second issue of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themed magazine SBG is now out for you to download HERE.
The new issue focuses in on the battle between the Dwarves and Azog outside the Dimril Gate of Moria. Not only have they worked on rules for playing this scenario but they put together a fantastic battle report too!
It's not just battle reports however as they also include Tactica articles, Painting Guides, Scenery tips and lots more. It really is a good read in the style of good old White Dwarf magazines from back in the day.
You can tell these folks are very passionate about the game and it's nice to see Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit supported by the community like this.
Donations can also be sent in via PayPal if you would like a physical copy of the magazine and it helps them work on the next issue of the magazine which IS coming!
Give this a read!

Looks great!
Seriously impressive work – clearly a real labour of love for these guys. Excellent stuff!
Somewhat sad that I read this article having seen @redben‘s thread in the forum about GW stores pulling LOTR from the shelves.
@chibi not sad, these guys are providing better support than GW has since the hobbit. Also When GW finally lets go of the license I look forward to it being picked up by another company who will use it too good effect.
Hope you are right and someone else picks up the game @dags.
The sadness was induced by fond memories of the game, and how it has been allowed to fall into decline.
I look forward to reading the magazine, at a cursory glance it looks most excellent
I may even be tempted back into the game if it is revised under a new licence.
If you don’t already look at the Great British Hobbit League, some of whom publish the SBG magazine. They’re doing an excellent job championing the game. It feels very much alive, well at least in my social media feeds.
Why do you need it to be under licence? There’s a stable ruleset and plenty of models, the community owns it now, and efforts like this only helps!
The community doesn’t own the game.
GW still have that pleasure.
That is a nice idea, but no one can do the plastic kits GW does.
No more GW, no more Mumak.
Incidentally you can pick up badly painted Mumaks on eBay for a good price. I bought one and I’m fixing it up. They are lovely kits.
Sadly, I am always getting outbid.
Eureka do a nice Mumak too, but it is in 10mm scale.
Great work for a great game 🙂
Great work folks and good coverage by BoW.
I have a physical copy and it is a thing of joy to behold, great work from the guys.
I too have the physical copy. Brilliant magazine. Really does take you back to the days when White Dwarf wasn’t just an expensive advert. Well worth the price of a physical copy if it allows them to make a new issue.
Also check out the channel if you haven’t. Fantastic for battle reports and rule queries.
Ps good luck to GBHL James for his wedding tomorrow.
Its a really good Magazine there is a growing independent seen for the Hobbit and lord of the rings games. If you want to check out more visit the GBHL channel or YouTube or the great British hobbit league on Facebook.
Anyone have a link to the first one? I seemed to have missed that one.
