FFG Taking The Lord Of The Rings LCG To The Digital Realm
December 11, 2017 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games are going to be adapting their successful LCG for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game into a digital adventure as part of their Interactive arm.
The game will take cues from the original game which did an exceptional job of creating the world of Tolkien on the tabletop. You will control a band of heroes from the background and lore of Middle-earth and head off on adventures in the wake of the Fellowship and more.
They have toned down some of the more challenging aspects of the LCG when it comes to this game, focusing it on a play experience which can take place in around ten or twenty minutes. There is more attention given to the game being a little deadlier and dangerous concerning the way your characters attack and defeat their enemies.
There are plans for this to have a single player game, to begin with during Early Access but it will then develop into a two-player cooperative experience down the line.
It looks like they'll then be following a similar plan to the LCG format when it comes to new cards where you'll buy a new pack which will come with new heroes and quests to undertake - all of which will be fully described beforehand so you know what you're buying.
Will you be taking a look at this?

Are the digital CCGs popular?
Personally, I’m not at all interested, but I was wondering if other people here play them a lot.
Hearthstone is doing pretty well for Blizzard, and of course you have the digital version of Magic too.
A lot of the other FFG games have unofficial digital versions too and they are used regularly for playtesting decks from Netrunner and Game of Thrones.
There are also a lot of card games beyond the CCG/LCG sphere which do well in a digital format too if the interfaces and gameplay can be done right.
This could be pretty big for them if they hit the nail on the head.
