"A wizard is never late, nor he is early, he arrives precisely when he means to" Gandalf
In this case, Gandalf will arrive on August 28th in the form of early access to the new digital platform for The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game.
Fantasy Flight Games and Asmodee Digital have announced an exciting preorder bundle for The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game that includes some incredibly cool pieces for gamers and fans of the classic tale. The pre-order bundle combines elements of the digital and classic tabletop card game with the following:
- Early access to The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game on August 28, 2018
- The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Two-Player Limited Edition Starter
- Four art prints depicting four heroes of The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game
- A special replica of the One Ring
- The game's MP3 soundtrack composed by Steve Gernes
- A custom, collector's edition playmat
- All in-game Founder's Packs automatically unlocked
- Various in-game cosmetic rewards
You get a replica of the One Ring - THE ONE RING! My precious...
In all seriousness, this new bundle has some absolutely gorgeous new card art for the classic cards in the game as well as two new heroes, Thorin Stonehelm and Gildor Inglorion.
As for the digital platform, your preorder of the bundle will give you early access into the world three to five months prior to the general public. Just think of the mastery one can accomplish in that time!
This seems like something we might have to dip into. If nothing else, it comes with a freckin' replica of The One Ring!
Will you be exploring the digital Middle-earth?

Anyone know if this is a relaunch of the physical format as well as the digital format?
To the best of my knowledge it’s not a relaunch, just a new Core Set. So all the existing expansions will be completely compatible. This Core Set has updated art and two new heroes though, but comes with pre-built decks, rather than the mix and match you get in the standard core.
That is one awesome looking bundle.
Very nice an interesting looking game.
Interested in the digital version having only dipped my toes into the core but really enjoyed it. The price is steep tho for early access ($99 as I see it from the website)
“The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Two-Player Limited Edition Starter” is listed as its own bullet point WITHIN this pre-order. So will that be available on its own (presumably at reduced cost)? I only ask because I priced this with postage from the US and it worked out around £120… which is steep, even for someone as invested in this game as me.
I’m hoping a standard version of this will be available here in the UK, because my main interest is those alt art cards and pre-built decks.
