What Armies Have You Speed Painted?
As we check out more of the work being done here at the Hobby Weekend we want to know what kind of armies you've speed painted, maybe even using these methods from Army Painter, in the past.
If you have cool armies that have come to life like this make sure to make a forum topic and share your completed force and we'll take a look!
This is the first time I’ve used the words speed and painted in the same sentence.
I speed painted my 50+ walkers for walking dead. Worked like a charm.
Is 5 weeks to paint an army considered speed… loving the color range of the Army Painter mega set.
I don’t get a huge number of models so I haven’t felt the need to speed paint any. Usually can do maybe a 5-10 man squad in a week. Vehicles take me an age to be happy with though.
never speed painted before, usualy skirmishers are my comfort zone … but i’m learning a lot over this coverage, should there ever come a time when i need to speed paint something

I remember speed painting these guys five a titme with very basic colour palettes and washes, start of the ‘slather everything in brown wash’-era…

The nearest I’ve ever come to “speed painting” is painting naked skellies, and I was still slow then.
One of the first thing I ever painted (nearly 20 yrs ago) was a skeletal ‘horde’, I basically just sprayed white undercoat on them and then threw a brown ink all over. I wish I still had them, but I remember being so proud of my amazing skills 😀
Whenever I speed paint, I break it up into groups of three or four to keep from feeling overwhelmed!
Does painting in a car count? I believe the driver was exceeding the speed limit.
did an old warhammer undead army in 2 days at one point… Will never paint a zombie again
I haven’t done any speed painting yet but I’m thinking it is the right way to go for some sets I have. I might especially be a good method for some of the board games I have.
While I use many AP products I do not consider myself a speed painter. I just tend to paint whole units at one time.
I really like this process and will keep using this to get stuff on the table. Once on the table you can later come back and improve.
Speed painting to a decent quality is a great skill I need to work on
This is my latest speedpaint:

it took me 8h of working time from priming to the end… not 8h straight hours of course… washes do need some time to dry
I started to “speed paint” my mechanicus army a year ago…
… I have had a break for a wee while.
Speed painted…ho ho. You could probably carbon date the different areas of my models 🙂
The only time I ever speed painted and “army”, navy really, was for Man O’ War. It was an Empire fleet I got stuck with because the gaming/anime/comic store I worked at at the time was running a league and wanted all of the employees to have different fleets. I got stuck with the Empire, I wanted Chaos or High Elves. Black primer, red accents on the hulls, botlgun metal for the cannons and brown for the decks. Then a brown wash over everything. Sails were printed out with an inkjet printer and give a bit of a tan colored… Read more »
I’ve speed painted Orcs and Infinity models before. 3 colors and done can get a lot of work done fast.
I haven’t really speed painted a miniatures army before. I’ve been doing a lot of cell shading, but that’s about it for speed runs.
This “get a neat basecoat in” stage looks very like what my own painting should be like. It’s the days of sloppy highlights and cleaning up every brush slip that does for my productivity.
My imperial guard army was completely speed painted using the Army Painter technique. That’s the only army I own which is totally painted… I used to have a prject log in the imperial guards forum but it doesn’t exist anymore… But you can still find some bits and pieces in my main project log here :

I try but always get lost on the details and there goes the “speed” part
I’m no speed painter but I’ve got mad respect for people who can, and can do it well.
