Is there a reason you set the limit at 25 boot-campers? Is it due to the size of the venue so people aren’t too crampt or is it more so people feel they have more of a personal touch? Just curious.

I’ve just started collecting a historical game myself, Bolt Action. The intrest started as family history but I really can’t wait to get some games in somehow, I don’t really have anyone to play against. I’m really interested to see how these armies go together though as 15mm has always seemed a bit of a different painting challenge to what I’m used to so I’ve been aprihensive to start the scale. That being said the game Tanks! does seem like a good place to start so I’ll be keeping an eye out for ze tiger.

I havn’t looked at FLames since it’s first edition where we used to jokingly call it flames of war(hammer 40,000). Im curious to watch your weekend and to see how the game has changed since then.

Got the open fire box to work on while I watch, will need to find the 4th ed late war books when they’re out… Then I’ll be getting the desert rats starter…

So by the looks of the prize bundle and what the people in the bootcamp are building there’s not a lot of infantery. Is that common for this theater of war?

Not so. This was a theatre where armoured tactics did take a large role but the use of infatry was common. They would have to manouver through mine fields, clear out emplaced areas, and with emplaced guns and such they would hold ground. Due to the larger open areas it may have been a less infantry friendly landscape on the whole in comparison to the likes of northern Europe or especially Burma but they did play their role in the desert as well. Some points where you might find intrest are if you look at ‘the siege of Tobruk’ in… Read more »
