Ahhhh… @avernos receives an award for properly pronouncing Leipzig. 😉

@oriskany that was perfect 😀
😀 Yay! 😀 😀 😀
Love the grognard shirt.
I too approve of that shirt!
Thanks very much, guys. My girlfriend @gladesrunner had that shirt made for me for Christmas!
How awesome is she?
The critical hit chart doesn’t go that high … 😀
She’s a keeper! ??
(ok, I’m told that that is not a good phrase to use these days. With all the modern times come new rules)
Irish Civil War might still be a bit “too soon” for me, but if it is being played with the range from Footsore it will be a spectacle to behold!
With battles/events that are ‘to soon’…….would it help if the setting was changed to a fictional island country on an alternet Earth? That way the scenarios could be run but not feel like anything too personal.
Some companies have done this for events that took place in Africa recently.
Just curious.
The “too soon” for me is because I grew up in the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland. It really is just a personal thing and I’m not going to be offended if others want to play them and enjoy themselves while doing so.
Haven’t thought too much about the fictional island thing. I have some Germans to paint, so I might come back to this after I get them done!
The “alternate universe” game @tempar00 might be talking about is the “Afrika” sourcebook from DishDash. You can have spec ops moderns games in Africa without wading too deep into things like Rhodesia, Rwanda, Congo, Zaire, Darfour, Somalia’s “hunger war”, etc. They basically rewrote Africa’s history where you can enjoy the setting but free of current social, cultural, and humanitarian grief.
Of course they wrote all their OWN conflicts, but at least they’re fictional. 😀
That’s the one!
It sure is food for thought.
It is an interesting one, @templar007, and my answer is I still don’t know. I’d have no problem collecting and painting the figures (or buying and putting them in a box in reality) but, for me anyway, once you add that element of chance and playing god in a game, it just doesn’t feel right for me for stuff that involves more modern Irish history. I wouldn’t feel the same about the Falklands, or the Gulf Wars. It has been something I have been thinking about a lot recently in a wider context.
I understand.
yes yes yes.
Stay tuned, tuned, tuned! 😀 😀 😀
