Mythic Day Live Blog: Mythic Battles Pantheon & Joan of Arc
Time Of Legends: Joan Of Arc Dragon Up Close And Personal
We take a moment to check out the scale of the Time of Legends: Joan of Arc Dragon from Mythic Games compared to the wonderful 15mm terrain and miniatures.
What do you think of this beast?
What a great model and I really like the setting, those flickering led’s really set it off
That thing is so awesome!! I can image it destroying everything you throw at it!
…or, more pertinently, that you throw it at!
Fresh from your appearance in Leo’s live fb feed… at least you’ve got better resolution to see the models!
Just simply AMAZING!
I see some happy gap filling in my future 🙂
Although this is a 3d print prototype I suspect some work will be needed, although for portability I hope it’s going to be unassemblable (?!?) in ter s of removable wings.
That’s a good point, how to transport such a beast…
The wings will be removable
I just need this dragon!
That dragon is big enough to use in 28mm games, no problem.
Thinks: dragon versus WW2 tanks…. 🙂
I was thinking of working him into Team Yankee 🙂
It is good and looks majestic, but it is really a Wyvern!
I wonder, if this design direction for dragons solidifies, will in a decade Wyverns will die out as a reference, or if they will mutate into something else.
I really do not like dragons that do not have separate wings and instead their front arms are (bat) wings…
Great sculpt otherwise and great sense of volume and presence.
The two legs/four legs distinction between wyverns and dragons is only in heraldry. Whilst wyverns do have two legs, they also have beaked mouths. Outside of heradrly there’s no defined number of legs that a dragon has, or even whether it has to have wings. Lacking a beaked mouth, this is a dragon.
The only constant in heraldry between Dragons and Wyverns is the number of legs, Dragons and Wyverns have been drawn in such bizarre shapes than drawing from how they were depicted in medieval illustrations than saying only Wyverns had beaks sounds odd to me. Regardless of the above as I said it is a great sculpt, but I dislike the modern style of making “realistic dragons” with forearms shaped as batwings but keeping the older style body. Yes, I understand we are discussing about imaginary creatures and we can simply slap a label on it and call it a day… Read more »
You’re certainly free to dislike aspects of it as per your preference, but is not correct to say it’s a wyvern and not a dragon. It is simply a dragon with some elements you’re not keen on.
First of all, a beautiful sculpt. Personally I like my dragons to have 4 legs like Smaug on the cover of The Hobbit. If it’s causing all this furore about definitions , they could just sell it as a Great Wyrm !
I am hoping some day we get to see a studio painted version of the dragon as well. That thing is amazing!
magnificent.
definitely some gaps to fill but i’d expect there to be with the soft plastic on such a large model.
not the end of the world thought, worth spending the time and effort on a piece like that.
I’m more interested in the infantry, which look great for 15mm.
That is a thing of beauty:-)
Just awesome.
Love the look of that dragon. But, I’ll echo what I see in the comments about how to transport such a beast.
Even at 28mm – and I am thinking about my D&D campaign here – that’ll be awesome.
A. Must. Have. Item.
Dragon or Wyvern, I don’t mind what you call it, the Dragons sculpt is incredible. It is very evocative of fire and death from the sky, which I can imagine in those times the mere thought of such a thing instilled dread and terror into many people. Wonderfully represented and I cannot wait to see how it looks when it finally gets its well deserved coats of paint.
Oh wow that is impressive. Those poor troops on the top of that tower are about to become lunch, The pose on that dragon is so dynamic I can just imagine him spitting fire at this lot. Awesome, I can’t wait for this game to be produced.
A true work of art! Enough said.
Looks like it’s time to steal the red plastic flames from the D&D Miniatures dragon and to install some LED’s.
That’s a gorgeous sculpture. Seems out of place to call it a miniature.
Puts the G.W dragon to SHAME
I’d write a longer comment about how beautiful that Dragon is but I’m too busy wiping drool off my chin. Want. Now. Gimme.
For those with an issue with nomenclature: the clue is in the name of the game, ‘Mythic Battles’ . As far as we can be certain, these creatures described, were the works of fiction, creations of the minds of individuals, therefore they can call that Dragon/Wyvern whatever they like, say like a ‘doughnut’. As long as the vast majority of potential punters, are happy with what they call it, then that’s what will sell it! Job done! In my ‘subjective’ opinion, it’s a very lovely ‘doughnut’! ; )
awesome!!
wow
