Flames Of War D-Day Boot Camp: Friday
The Americans Are Coming With Victor's Big Four Of Late War
Over at Battlefront’s Big Four Of Late War, Victor Pesch has sided with the Americans.
Victor decided to go for the Americans for the simple reason that he has not made an army of them before! Plus, it gives him a chance for lots of lots of Shermans.
You can read more about his army plans over at Big Four Of Late War.
I look forward to reading up on his research into the black splodges on the American tanks.
Have fun. Its also a good excuse to sit through band of Brothers one more time, if excuses are needed.
Such a cool set. Very classic look to them. When I think of tank warfare, these are the tanks I see in my head.
Looking forward to seeing more in the series.
Beautiful paintjob on these models.
Its a good looking force.
Great looking figs! Can’t wait for the American book coming soon.
Okay, I honestly apologize if I’m missing something here … but those are Soviet T-34/85s, SU-76s, and German SdKfz-250 and 251s in this “American” set? The photos underneath are all variants of the Sherman, which makes more sense. Pretty sure the one on the left is a Soviet re-build with a ZiS 85mm gun (no muzzle brake)?
The picture of the Soviet starter set confused me as well. Hopefully the Battlefront folks will be able to update their post with the correct models.
Was just going to point that out myself! US T34s?? 😀
I found myself scratching me head as well! “What the heck am I missing here?”
Its a TV army unit that’s the key?
I do belive oriskany is right, but it matters not, like last camp the wehrmacht will change historie again in camp 2019, so says the D.Fox :p
Hope to see more
Sounds strange but I had never considered using spare hulls/turrets to use as test pieces before, I’ve always built a full vehicle but I think I might just give this idea a go.
It’s a brilliant idea. One I’ll steal if I ever get a spare hull (my tanks are 28mm and resin, so I don’t currently)
I understand, this was a test. Of course, @oriskany won. Give him a bundle.
Thanks @jemmy for this mention and others – but I still haven’t finished the DAK 28mm I received at the last boot camp! 😀 In my defense, they are over half complete, though.
The painting part of the hobby is no sprint, it´s a marathon. Good we don´t drop dead when we arrive. Still, you shall have the bundle.
As for the DAK, you completed your LRDG, and that looked so splendid I felt inspired to get my own vehicles.
Thanks very much for the kind words on the LRDG @jemmy – those were my first 28mm figures. 😀
looking forward to seeing what he comes up with about the black splodges – all you ever seem to hear is that everything was olive drab
This stuff is just too good, and my wallet is afraid.
I dig it , more tanks? Yes please!
Following along @oriskany ‘s line of thought, maybe this is an american unit from mccarthy’s nightmare? or maybe the copy and pasted the wrong photo?
Yeah, @petey9 – I’d imagine someone just sent our guys an image with the wrong file name or some such. No worries, certainly. 😀 Not only are those Soviet and German vehicles, but the Soviet vehicles are in markings specific to the Koniev / Zhukov assault on Berlin, April / May 1945 (white bands around the turrets). So definitely late war, just a different theater. 😀
These american Sherman dont look russian in any way. 😉 Oh the russians should be americans. Shame on you BoW.
After looking through the other comments, it’s good to see I’m not going crazy. Didn’t think it looked like an American starter set in the picture.
Ultimate Sherman camo, make it look like a T34/85!
t34’s in disguise. i honestly thought he was doing a lend lease army for a second with the talk of shermans
the Russian army looks sweet, some captured hanomags, interesting
Arent those Russian tanks and German transport?
Anyone else notice that the army photo is Russian?
