It’s nice that for those who are comfortable with using it the airbrush is there to use. So many techniques being used this weekend. What a great bootcamp.

And this is where I feel like a painting Luddite because I just can’t get comfortable with using an airbrush. I can see the obvious advantages to using one but I just…can’t!

Have not got into airbrushing yet and it is the one thing that I think could be really useful and have been looking at it for a while. Great to see that it is being used here as well.

I’m the same, I picked up a cheap airbrush a while back, and it’s whet my whistle enough that I’m investigating what to buy in the mid range of the market etc.

Good to see some airbrushing in action, shadows from below, that is a nice new contrast technique I have not seen before, awesome.
Yes Justin please make sure we get some coverage of this army I really want to the end result.

Ohhh interesting! As a hopeful starting airbrusher soon, I’ll need all the inside info and tips there are! 🙂
I’ll be keeping an eye on these guys through the weekend!

Limited space in my apartment has kept me from expanding past pots. I might set up a proper painting space with airbrush when I get myself a garage

That’s a cool idea. I wish I was as cool as justin so warren and lloyd would buy me an airbrush 😉

To prime in purple is a clever idea if you are going to paint in browns or reds the mini, it adds richness to the tones and to the shadows.

Good idea and technique. I’ll have to give it a try.

I don’t have an airbrush and I think that technique would be hard to get under a mini with a rattle can. Will have to file this idea away for later though.

It works well with rattle can as long as you are far back with the can and putting down light mists

Interesting technique, I’ll give that a go!

Surely the base will get in the way of giving an even and accurate undershadow?

daruckus

not if use more translucent/lighter colour and are using very thin coats with the airbrush.

Exactly you are preshading with this technique so you are just forcing contrast its a quick dirty hack with an airbrush to do away with the recess wash stage…
