Seeing the Beautiful Miniatures of Conquest from Para Bellum
Justin catches up with Para Bellum again to see their stand on the show floor as they show off a huge variety of new Conquest miniatures and box sets. One of the most beautiful stands at Expo this year, this is reflected in the miniatures they have on display!
some great design work here 🙂
Aaaaagh, the cameraman completely missed the bare plastics XD GO BACK!
This is the miniature game that I am most intrigued by at the moment. Rules, art, minis and lore are high quality and the ranked battle appeal is there. So holding my thumbs for a great release and expansion of the game!
I could spend all day at this stand, if I was there. Haha.
Great minis !
wow! Those looks amazing.
Very nice stuff
Those minis look amazing! Did you see that guy on horseback? I’m all over this.
That knight is HUGE!
I have a rule of thumb of looking at the ordinary humans to judge a miniatures range. These are splendid in the flesh (and some great paintjobs on their big diorama).
Do you mean, “if they can do humans right, they can do the rest right?” If so, I think that’s a good rule.
What I really appreciate about these designs is they’re recognisably fantasy, but the aesthetic is grounded in a low-fantasy, functional style. The huge shoulder pads and over-sized weapons of a lot of modern high fantasy are nowhere to be seen.
I am definitely most interested in the Nords so far, but I think I will have to paint up a small force of Hundred Kingdoms all the same.
Functional is an excellent word for it, and should be at the forefront of a military design.
I was talking to one of the authors and he pointed out the hooks on the backs of the bad guy constructs to show how they’d come off the production line 🙂
That’s great. I think there’s concept art of the clones all hanging from those hooks while in storage, like some Geiger-esque wardrobe.
Geiger-esque wardrobe. Ha! That’s very true. The story for the clones is truly dark, with lifespans of mere hours; though not too far from aircrew in certain theatres of both world wars.
Agreed. The writeup of the Force Grown drones on the website is rather bleak. Bandages soaked in antiseptics to keep them alive just long enough for the battle. I love it.
Fantastic stuff. I wish the leg poses of the militia weren’t quite so static on all of the sculpts, but I assume they did this to keep costs down, which is fine. I love the design of the theist priest.
As Justin said… “Very nice”.
I love the model on the horse in particular.
These sculpts are so good, i had a little look over the weekend. The added size to them really helps but also thats a bit of a downside for me as i like to use my minis in a variety of games. Very good though and definitely one im watching.
Well…it is delayed 6 months…but seeing this I say…take your time and make a good game a great one!
absolutely agree. Do it right, do it once! 😉 and I get to save more money to drop on it 😀 haha
Yeah, that’s too bad, but I’d also rather see it released in the best state they can get it. Hopefully, this means it launches with the Nords being available at the same time.
Did you hear/read this as an official announcement?
Sorry..did read sooo much stuff over the last days….cant remember if it was “offical”…but it said that they aim for Spiel Essen as new release time.
It’s pretty plausible that they’d release it at a big gaming event, so that sounds likely. That’s fine. I have a backlog of other things to do in the meantime!
the men at arms are very good but like others have said i’d like to see what they can do with the norse.
great art, great setting. but i need an army that works for me across the board, at the minute i like some units but not others. fingers crossed for the norse.
They are doing a really great job on their minis, the game seems decent. If they over here in the US I definitely would take a demo
Really looking forward to seeing how this develops.
Seems like memoir44 or runebound. Precious miniatures!
That Pheromancer is georgeous
Looks pretty nice!
This is simply the best i’ve seen to date…
