Dropzone Commander Boot Camp Day 3
Sam's Final Impressions of the Weekend
The Dropzone Commander Boot Camp is drawing to a triumphant close. Armies were built, battles were fought, beer was drunk and Justin was the subject of many a merry jape. In short, we are knackered.
This was our first such event. Everyone seems to have had a blast, with plenty of the people here telling us that they fully intend to snag tickets for the next one we run after the Bolt Action Boot Camp.
Personally, while it was a lot of work, this weekend has been a ton of fun. I have been wanting to play Dropzone Commander for ages now and finally got the chance on the Saturday. I was instantly hooked and intend to finish painting my Shaltari later in the week.
The structure of the Boot Camp made the game very easy to pick up, with the guys from Hawk constantly on hand to give advice.
Of course, one of the best things for all of us was meeting everyone. We've been talking to most of you in the comments and forums for years now and it was a pleasure to finally put names to faces. It turns out most of you are at least as crazy as we are, and a bigger collection of friendly mad people there has never been.
All in all, this weekend has been a lot of fun. It definitely made all the preparation, all the blood sweat and flock that went into making it, worth while. I cannot wait for the next one.
As I know everyone must be commenting all weekend, great bootcamp and great coverage. It almost (almost) was like been there. Loving to hear it was a huge success, because this only means more activities will come in the future 😀 And of course I am counting the Bolts Action one (a game not of my taste, but I’m sure that bootcamp will be as enjoyable than this one).
As one of the lurkers in the shadows for this event I can only agree wholeheartedly with Sams words its been great to watch so must of been immense to attend. Great work guys as always now you just need a couple beers and then you’ll be ready for the start of another week!
Sam should change his screen name to USS Enterprise, because in that second picture, he appears to be boldly going where no man has gone before.
Cyom on, better get working on the next one! chop chop 😛
In serious, I am blown away by how professional and well presented and structured it’s all been, not to mention for those of us that couldn’t attend the coverage which was done really well with the blog system. Excellent work all round.
thats it rest now for it will soon be time for the bolt action boot camp boys
Love this picture – great Job guys!
I’d also like to say a big thank you to the guys from Hawk games your support for the community is greatly appreciated and I will definitely be looking at purchasing your game!!

Really wish I could be there. It looks like all had a great time and would kill to pull this off…
Alas, there is half a continent and an ocean in the way… 🙁
Well done to you all. An amazing success. I’ve enjoyed following it all through out the weekend. A well deserved rest for you all I think, once you’ve cleaned up obviously ;o)
Everyone looks like they have had a great time , if this is what’s achieved after the first boot camp it only good for the future ones .
Really wish I could have made the bootcamp. It looked like a total blast. It definitely has me excited to check out Dropzone Commander when I hit Adepticon this year.
Great work everyone.
Nice one. To everyone. Loved following this and I hope you do it again. D.x

BoW Team, well done, played, communicated, and hosted.
You deserve, your evening off!
You can all be very proud of this event and the BoW community that it represents. A great achievement to build on!
Well I’n drained and all I have had to do is keep hitting the refresh button! I’m going to have to think long and hard about how I can afford another game and smuggle it back into the house. My wife is very understanding of my hobbies but even she has limits. Safe homeward journey to all the attendees it been a blast.
Thanks guys, looks like it’s been a huge success. Look forward to hopefully getting on a future boot camp.
well said Sam
Can I just say how much I loved the live blogging?! It was the next best thing to being there- in fact I treated as such and basically got nothing done this weekend as I was glued to my computer! 😀
No voice and in need of a good long sleep (at least it is just work tomorrow )
but damn it where good fun!

Awesome weekend and for those interested here’s my review; hospitality was top notch I’ve never been to a gaming event before that was so friendly. Think I had a good conversation with everyone who attended about painting, miniatures, kickstarter, boardgames or some random s**te. Hawk were awesome, The Beastie Boys were all awesome and as much as a craic as you’d expect from the weekender. All the games and matches were great fun – definitely painting these miniatures up properly for my next match. The food and accommodation was top notch, and the mythical £1.39 pint does exist. If I… Read more »
