Bolt Action: Western Desert Boot Camp Live Blog - Friday
Modelling With The Boot Campers: The Afrika Korps Part Two!
Bob takes us through his experiences with the new Bolt Action German Afrika Korps plastic kit.
Everyone is finding them much easier and faster to put together and Bob is even trying his hand at some light conversion work.
Looks like everyone is havin’ a blast!
I really like the new plastic afrika korps plastics
The new sculpts are amazing. They’ll be on my next order I imagine!
Waiting for someone to say ‘Ha! John, for you ze interview is over!’
Glad Bobs enjoying himself.
I wasn’t planning of getting any desert troops but I’m tempted.
I always kinda like the separate arms since it opened the world to soooo many conversion possibilities. Every new box I got was able to be customized so much more with bits from the leftover sprues of old boxes.
curse flowing gun syndrome
the more i see of the kits the more likly i am to get myself some no matter how the weekend contests turn out :S
Damn, great looking plastics
That soldier has lost his head!
The more I see, the more I need some of these desert kits!
very nice details! I really love these models
Agree on the “floaty gun syndrome”, hopefully Warlord will rework the older kits to be in line with the newer ones (like they have with the American GIs). Not sure if the new GIs are suitable for N Africa campaigns in Tunisia tho (like the old set was), or if they are late war only.
The separate guns in the old kits is what kept me away from even thinking about trying them out. Now I have no excuse.
I know it early days yet but the vibe seems sudate compared to other bootcamps. I sorta like it.
I bet there’s a lovely smell of glue in that room at this stage of proceedings!!
I never really had a problem with floating gun syndrome, it did allow for. A lot of conversation work to be done easily
Some nice paintings down below.
Have you guys considered sending out the armies a week or two before the event so building can be done before the time?
Bob, those painted guys look really nice!
Since Bob is one of the few I can match their BoW identity with real life one , it is good to see both him and his progress.
They look great! So much done in so little time
Some parts of the old plastic sets were a pita, but if these new sets are as good as the other (now not just as) new sets (US marines, Fallschirmjäger etc.), there´s no more Greek bread for me then!
Jerry looks good too
